Hello everyone! I'm trying to get sleep to work properly on the media PC and I've made some progress but now I am stuck.

When I schedule a recording and let the computer go to sleep it does not wake properly to record it. The funny thing is that it appears to be trying to wake up but doesn't quite make it.

I cleared the logs and made a fresh attempt in order to make the logs look pretty. For this test I scheduled a recording at 14:00. The computer went to sleep at 13:49 in the mediaportal home screen. At 13:55 the disk spins up and at 13:57 I can hear the disk working a lot. At 13:59 it spins the hard drive down (?). The TV does not turn on at all during this time.

At 14:04 I moved the mouse to wake the computer and after a short while it was online as it should. When I exit mediaportal the test tool informs me that it crashed and it collects logs and such for me even though mediaportal appears to exit correctly, I don't have to force-quit it in any way.

I have attached logs from the tv engine, mediaportal and the information from the test tool. I have also looked around the forum in search for an answer but I have been unable to find one.

Thanks in advance / Martin

Never mind the logs above - it appears as if I accidently set a recording for 14:05 instead of 14:00. however, the problem is still there. I will supply new logs soon, I have a recording set at 15:40.

Sorry about this.

Okay, I did another attempt. Interestingly enough this time the computer actually woke up properly but did not start the recording. This has never happened before. The logs are full of errors that I do not understand.

Clarification: I am using Vista Business and I have turned off UCL.

mediaportal-logs have a MP-prefix.

timeline:

15:50 - set a recording at 16:30
16:09 - computer goes to sleep
16:25 - starts to wake up, spins up hdd
16:26 - hdd works hard
16:27 - image output to tv
16:40 - goes back to sleep without recording anything
16:45 - gave up and woke from sleep manually, looked at channel 5 manually to verify that the tuner works.

Any help is appreciated!

Can we try to eliminate MP out of the equation, if you use TVServer\powerscheduler to put system to sleep and awaken for recordings, does it work.
Yes i know it can be a pain with vista, as keyboard\mouse movements not detected by TVServer, so if a standby time set it will do it unless you have a process selected to stop it.

How is your floppy connected, firewire or other.

I just tried that but it did not work. I set a recording for 20:00 and put the system to sleep at 19:50. It woke up properly a few minutes before 20:00 but did not start recording (at least no temporary file). At 20:04 I started mediaportal, no red recording-circle. Went to my tv->scheduled recordings and it was still scheduled but not recording. When I tried to look at the channel mediaportal became unresponsive.

I'm going to give it a few minutes to see if it gives me an error message. After that I'll update this post with some logs but they will not be as pretty as the previous ones since I did not clear them before doing this test.

I feel that I'm half way there, it goes to sleep as it should and it obviously sets the wake-up times correctly.. I just need it to start recording as well

Edit: It gave me the error "unable to start timeshifting, channel not mapped to any card". Logs attached.
The floppydtv is connected via firewire directly to the motherboard.

Oops, I should have mentioned that it is already set up like that.

I've also tried "reinitialize service on wakeup" but that did not help.

Bummer, it is TVServer that is failing, not MP

Now to find out why, ok if you resume manually can you enter tvserver config\channels and be able to preview them.

Have you got the latest BIOS for your motherboard, as this can cause firewire\usb devices to fail on resume as well ( just been checking on the technet site)

I just tried this:
* reboot (to get it clean)
* previewed a channel - worked great
* sleep mode
* woke the computer up
* 20:26 - double clicked tv-server-config
* 20:28 - the program started (two minutes? waaay to much?)
* a LOT of disk activity
* 20:28 - click preview
* program locks up
* 20:32 - message "preview failed: channelnotmappedtoanycard"

I just bought the motherboard second-hand but the previous owner said that he had flashed it to the latest version. Should I downgrade it to a previous version?

Thanks a lot for taking the time to help me!

Edit: I tried to figure out the bios version, I found a long number ending in -19 which is the latest bios version on abits homepage.
