Question AverTV duo (A177) and KWorld PE210R

Hi all,

Can I get confirmation from users of either of these cards that they will work with MP? There are a couple of posts about the A177 that don't really give a definitive answer, and very little about the KWorld PE210R (the dual DIGITAL, not dual HYBRID).

In terms of the A177, I'm not that fussed about having the analog working, just the digital - but it's a bargain card and from the majority of things I've read about it (outside of MP users), most are happy with its performance.

Also, if there are any particular tricks to get the cards working with MP, details would be appreciated!

Cheers,
Craig

My System

Default

Craig,
I use the A177 in my mediacentre, and it works fine. The first one I purchased was faulty, but it was replaced and has worked perfectly since (bit over 12 months I think). I have since added a Winfast DTV 1000s, so I have three tuners. I use the DTV 1000S for watching live TV and the A177 I reserve purely for Websheduler use, but they all work with MP no problems. In MP .0220 I had to do add the cards parameters to the card def file, but in RC1.0 it just does it! The A177 has two individual tuner inputs, which means you need to have an external splitter to feed both inputs from the antenna. I did it this way originally, but it is messy. Recently I ditched all that and just soldered a short link from the tuner input socket pad (on the pcb) to the pad on the other tuner socket. Now I have the Antenna feeding one A177 socket, then an external coax from the other A177 'input' (now an output) to feed to the DTV 1000S input socket.

Hi blogra,

I ended up going with 2 x Leadtek DTV1000S cards. What a fantastic little card for less than $40 each. You can read my progress so far here.

Cheers,
Craig
