Default Hauppauge 150 MCE

Windows Version: xp pro sp2CPU Type: manufacturer and speed
Memory:512 ddr
Motherboard Chipset: ficad11
Video Card: at aiw 128 pro pci

will the MCE edition of the Hauppauge 150 work with xp pro? the only reason i ask is because i currently have xp pro on my computer, and want to get a tuner card, but i may have plans in the future to convert to MCE? will i be able to get the mCE remote that comes with it to work with media portal also? I know that media portal has support for MCE remotes, but i wasnt sure if that was only for computers with MCE edition on it.

i apologize in advance if this is a repeatidly asked question.. i did a quick search before i posted.

also, can someone tell me if i am making a poor choice with the Hauppauge 150 MCE edition? i basicly just need something, hard ware encoding, with a remote, that can record well and watch tv decently....

Hi there, Media Portal works fine with XP Pro and/or MCE. The MCE edition of the Hauppauge 150 and the MCE remote would work very well with Media Portal also, and again the Windows operating software does not have to be MCE. You might have to download some drivers for the MCE remote if using XP Pro, but this is straightforward and plenty of info exists out there from other folks who have done this. Go MP it's the way ahead!! Cheers m

XP Pro includes those drivers already. It's XP Home missing them.

great, thanc for the quick reply guys.

do you think the 150 MCE is a good choice for me? im really not looking for great quality, i really just want a nice remote, and good recording, cheap, and PCI. currently i have an ati aiw 128 pro which is not supported by MP, so i wanted something i could use in there because i enjoy the layout so much.

also, does anyone kbnow of a card or program with a write caching feature? because of my job i have to do domain enviorment testing all the time, therfore my media pc in on a domain, and its hard drive is not very big. my server has a TON of space on it, but i doubt i could effecticly save streaming video over the network. does anyone know of a way to temporarily cache the video files on the local computer, while simultaneously begining to write then to their permanenet location on the server?

I have both the PVR150 and PVR150MCE. The quality is good, a little bit blurry perhaps. But I think this is due to my bad cable signal. Otherwise it works like a charm with MP.

With the latest driver I even got the switching times to below 1 sec.
