Default Hauppauge 350 or 500

I'm about to buy a new tv-card. Which of the above, Hauppauge 350 or 500, should I buy? What advantages/disadvantages do the have compared to each other?

Is it these you mean? I can't help you anymore than this since I don't have anything from Hauppauge (I'm a Pinnacle PCTV/Pro owner) but I think that if I would buy another tv-card then it would be one from Hauppauge.

Yes, those than one. I know that 350 also has a hardware decoder which 500 doesn't have. But do I need it? I just want to have a perfect picture and perfect recordings. Which of them should I choose?

Just installed my 500MCE, and so far it's a dream. All sound and stuttering problems I had with my previous card are solved. The 500 also has HW MPEG encoding just like the 350. It adds the second TV tuner but lacks the remote (small issue if you have the MCE remote) and the DVD decoder. But isn't that built into MP nowadays? Anyhow, if I had to buy another tuner card, I'd certainly go for Hauppage and very probably for the 500MCE.

Forget about the HW-decoder. MP didn't use it, becuase the output of the decoder is pure video without MP GUI. Much more important is the encoder, both cards have it build in and so you get smart recordings without any stutterings. Becuase the price difference between 350 and 500 are not that much, I suggest to buy a 500. Also if you think you didn`t need the second tuner, believe me, you use it and you love it
Remember that the 500 has no remote control, so you have to use another remote solution.
