I'm looking at a card to use with Mediaportal under XP. Basically I want a quality card that will work with poor quality signals and will also work with Foxtel. I want to set it up with the blasters and the EPG to record automatically.
My question: is this card suitable for this purpose? And is it hard to set up? And does anyone have an alternative suggestion for a card? I really want something that is nice and simple to set up - I spent two weeks getting my Leadtek DTV1000T working properly with MP and I'm not keen to repeat the experience. |

Huh? What does that mean ...

It depends upon your definition of "poor quality signals". To get interruption-free viewing of DVB-T you always need good quality signals - there is no DVB-T card or set-top-box that can overcome the lack of a good steady (low error rate) signal. I have this particular card and it works fine on DVB-T and FM radio. However, it doesn't like a signal that is too strong. I haven't tested how weak the signal can be before the image disappears, but I have discovered that a strong signal that my other DVB-T cards love, causes this card to loose the image and sound. I haven't tried to use the analog video input (as you would want to do for your Foxtel), but since it is a software encoding input, then getting it to work may not be so easy? Contact DigitalNow for information on this feature - they may already have a solution for MediaPortal? HTH? |

I don't personally have this card, but I did do some research a while ago when I was thinking about buying that particular card and I remember reading somewhere that someone has worked out how to get the analog AV input to work in mediaportal.
I have the following links bookmarked so there may be some details on how to do this in one of these: Media Portal and Hybrid Tuners Help How to get analog TV working with DNTV Live Pro and MediaPortal - DVB Owners Discussion Forum - dvbowners.com Hope that helps. |

lol, Taipan, it's a pop culture reference. Haven't you watched "Ferris Bueller's day off"?
I have the card, as I've answered on many other questions that are exactly the same (please try a search) I like this card but don't use the Analog input. I alsu use the TV Server. |

Thanks guys, did do a search but must have missed the other threads. I have A DTV 1000, I might buy one of these cards and set the Leadtek card up as the analogue. Otherwise if I can get the analogue set up I guess I can drop the Leadtek into a different machine.
My signal here is reasonably weak but the leadtek card seems to handle it OK (most of the time). It's amazing - I live about 1.5 km from Crown casino and yet even with a new aerial, new cabling and a booster I get an average signal on several channels. Apparently I need a mast... |
