Default mp and xbmc

Like some of you I migrated to MP from XBMC about a year ago. I am not sure where to post this question but was wondering what options I had in letting xbmc talk to MP.

Here is my scenerio. I have an HTPC with MP in my livingroom and wanted to let my XBMC in my bedroom connect to the HTPC to watch movies and shows that I have stored on the HTPC. Is there anyone out there doing this now?

Your help and suggestions are much appreciated.

I have not tried this myself, but see if [this] is what you want... and if it still works

hey thanks for the post. I did notice that but it didnt have to many people posting that it actually worked so I was curious what other people were using.

As of now I am not using MP as a DVR but want to soon. I also noticed this http://www.xboxmediacenter.com/wiki/...e=XBMSP#Step_1
which really just points the default location to the network source. which i think might work for now.

How is everyone else handling your sharing of files in seperate rooms?

My TV Server setup records all my shows and stores them in a folder that is shared on my network (SMB Share).

I just have that as a share listed in XBMC ... Works fine.

Cheers,

You can customize the TV Server recording file names in the TV Server setup.

Mine look like this:

Family Guy - 2008-1-3.ts
30 Rock - 2007-12-26.ts

Not sure I'm completely happy with this naming convention, but I can change it any time I like.

It gets the show name from the tv guide.

Hope that helps,

I would recommend a tuner card from digital-everywhere. I have one FloppyDTV DVB-T and one FloppyDTV DVB-S2. Never been any issues, unless I was the wrong-doer
And they work closely with the MP Dev team.
But do search the forums, there are lots of posts on this matter. Happy hunting.
