new HTPC

I have an idea about building a HTPC with the following specs:

Intel Pentium D 805 Dual core (2*2,66Ghz)
Gigabyte 8I865GME-775
on board video and audio
512Mb DDR 400
250Gb WD SATA HDD
some NEC DVD-RW

and for the TV card
Pinnacle 400i DVB-S
Pinnacle 50i

I have a couple of questions about this HTPC...

1. Is it possible to use only 1 remote to control both the cards?
2. Is this config enough for future HDTV?
3. Does Mediaportal support these cards?

Dont think that onboard video card will be sufficient. It says it only supports DirectX7* and DirectX8*, what ever the * means.
