Smile Silverstone LC11 430PSU Case mod.

Just thought I'd throw this out there and see if anyone was interested. I recently bought a LC11 http://www.silverstonetek.com/products-lc11.htm low profile case from silverstone. The draw back to this is that it only has a 300watt PSU with poor amperage and proprietary PSU, long square shape. I didn't realise this would be an issue until my buddy gave me a Nvidia 6600GT. The OTA ATSC HDTV I want to watch looks crappy with a geForce 5500.

I have an AGP board running in this case and it requires an additional Molex connector to the video card. Bottom line, the PSU that comes with this case it "Wimpy", It can't drive a highpower video card. (And i'd say, let alone, a beefy PCI-E board.)

I bought a Thermaltake PSU ( http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/produc...70/w006970.asp ) with 430watts and 18amps on the rail for 50.00 yesterday. I confirmed that it solved all my video problems.

I took it apart, cut up the case it came in, and mounted it inside my LC11. Works like a charm so far.

I can add pics, tips and tricks that I learned etc if anyone has any interest.. This is a BEAUTIFUL case, built very well.. They just neglected a decent PSU.

Smile

I'd be amazed to see how you did this?! :-)

Did you manage to retain space for all of the original hardware - specifically the pcie riser and dvd player??

Add me to the list of wannasees. Same case as me and I have stability problems since upgrading my graphics card. No coincidence I'm sure.

Come on fess up with the pictures!! :-)

I had huge problems running this with a AMD 4000+ and a Radeon X800GTO so it would be nice to find out how you put it together with a full size PSU.
