Lightbulb Manual coverart search option

Started on: 2007-01-04
last update: 2007-01-04

Summary:

Hi,

The idea is to implement a manual coverart search option in MyMusic, like MyVideos do, when it don't know the album title or singer.

Description:

When you try to do a online coverart search, if the search engine don't know the album title/singer, it search for a "unknown" album title and you can't introduce the correct album name.

It would be nice to add the album title manually with the "virtual keyboard" and then choose the correct one to download, like My Videos do with the unknown titles.

Thanks

Why would you even invest time for manual cover lookup if simply the correct id3 tag would allow everything automatic and much more..

I think mainly the same way like you, rtv. But why not implementing an additional Tag Search? Would only be parsing some parts of amazon, CD-Wow or some somthing.

Lets say, I just got the album XYZ from the artist, not tagged, but at least tracks are numbered. MP asks for Artist and Album and searches covers, tags and even names the files correct. Next step would be compilations with various artist to be tagged the same way :-)

Well, sometimes is more dificult to correct de id3 tag with "rare" mp3 that are not automatically detected by the id tagger, and we have to correct every song one by one manually...

And may be this is an other way to equal the search "method" to My Videos module, isn't it?

Jep, there could be a lot of false positives, but actually there is less freedom like in Movies, since I can't imagine that there's going a lot wrong when at least the Artist is correct. I don't like guessing(like wmplayer, which covered my whole database with nice american folk song covers) by length of the tracks or something cddb style. I think the only information which can be trusted in semi automatic tagging is artist and album, maybe the track names to complete and nothing else...

I also would like the option to search manually-I have many mp3's that are not id3 tagged correctly-that I just want the proper cover to show or at least a cover that is from the same artist
