Default Movie Import

Started on: 2007-04-26
last update: 2007-04-26

Summary:

Movie database IMDB info import should run without having to start MediaPortal Setup

Description:

I use the IMDB import functionality for all my movies, but it's a bit of a hassle that I have to quit MP and start MP Setup and start a manual scan in order for new movie files to be added. The TV Series plugin works the way I want the Movies import to work, if there are any conflicts MP pops up a window asking me what to do.

Can this be added??

This would be a welcome improvement, if you ask me!

If you select a movie and press F3 it will give the info for the movie. If the information does not exist in the database it will download from IMDB.

I wish it could default to a High Resolution poster for the image instead of the IMDB low res version.

Is there some xml file that allows you configure that?

The only way to get to the movie this way though is through the shares view. You cant navigate by title, you cant filter by genre, and there is no cover art. That's some significant functionality that just doesn't work until you load data from IMDB. I personally normally navigate by title or genre with large icons so just selecting a movie and hitting F3 isn't going to work for me, I either have to temporarily switch my view or load from the config program.

Yeah, we need something that watches your folders for changes and automatically gets IMDB info.

Has any further thought been given to this suggestion? I think this would really add a lot of value to the My Video plugin.

Thankfully this is at least implemented now, saves doing 1 step in the import process

*bump*

This is a well needed feature, especially since third party plugins such as TV-Series can do it, even if its just an option from the F9 Menu.
