Question TFT TouchScreen Interface Improvement for HTPC user

Started on: 2007-10-27
last update: 2006-10-27

Summary: To use MP with a Touch Screen we need an extra Interface on the second Display

Description: HTPC TouchScreen User have many problems with display resolutions and the touch funktion ...

The most want to control MP with the TouchScreen for listen music and other things, but not for TV or Video.
The desktop clone mode is not useable because we have 4:3 for the TouchScreen and 16:9 for the TV screen.
... and i cannot watch tv on 2 displays at same time... it confuse a little bit... ;-)

1. Display 7" TFT TouchScreen 800x600 (HD160XT)
2. Display 24" LCD 1920x1200

sort of problems:
different display resolutions
- are only in extended desktop mode possible, directX is only on the primary display available!
- MP runs on XP only on the directX enabled primary display, but this is not the problem...
- set the second display to primary and extend the desktop to the first display
=> we have MP on the second Display

? what we need is the possibility of a special second TouchScreen Interface on the first Display

touchscreen
- is not useable with the default skin
- the touch express allways the left mouse button and activates all now
- the touch do not release and the menu will scroll...

?=> TouchScreen Interface skin
- we need all the time scroll buttons, no mouse scrolling and big buttons ;-)

ZalmanHD160XT User improvements...
We have no software support from zalman for the remote control, fan control and case buttons.
The MPlay Zini software for this functions is crap.

The HTPC is in most cases only for Mediaportal and we like to control the vl-systems hardware for the remote control, case buttons and i think it would fantastic for the fan control with Mediaportal.

The API for all is a serial <=> usb interface...
I have tried the remote control learn function and it works a little
The commands from the vl-system hardware are to strange for mediaportal.
I think it needs a little customizing to bring the remote control and buttons to work.

(PS: personaly i do not need the fan control in MP, have the bad software fan control changed with hardware fan control T-BalancerNG)

thanks in advance
