RS232 Interface

Any chance of getting a RS232c interface?

I have a A/V Amp that has an RS232c interface, that I can control via my HTPC. Using a plugin in Meedio, I can switch on an off the Amp automatically depending on the function I am using. As well, I can remotely control the volume output, and the environmental settings for a given function.

Can you provide more information, maybe some web links, on this sort of device/interface? With a good spec I'm sure we could put together something for you.

I'm assuming it uses a standard PC Serial port?

I've got a plugin (MCE Replacement Plugin) that supports sending commands over a serial port connection. And I know there is a parallel port control plugin out there too.

I'm sure we can get you going without too much trouble. Although we don't have a plugin as simple as the Meedio one, those functions are covered in existing plugins. If I get some time I'll write something like the Meedio one for you, but in the meantime ...

Try the MCE Replacement plugin, even though it's designed for MCE remote controls it has other functions that don't require the MCE remote, like Serial Port commands... There is extensive documentation included with the plugin, so you should be able to find your way around it. You can find it here:

Or hold off for a bit until I release my new plugins, which includes a gui plugin for controlling equipment that will support serial commands too. I've been saying it's coming soon for a few weeks now, but honestly, it's any day now.
