Country: | Started on: 2007-01-09 last update: 2007-01-09 Summary: When inserting a CD with video files, it is detected correctly, but the only option is to open the CD in My Videos. I would like it to autoplay if it contains only one video file. Area: Auto-Play Description: I'm sure many people have CD's with only one .avi file on it, or maybe with one .avi and one .srt/.sub. (I know I do). When inserting such a CD, it would be great if it would start playing immediately, like a DVD does. The problem I guess would be that we have to scan the entire content of the disc to determine that there is only one video file and that could be a performance hit. If this really is a problem, we could consider only providing this function for media containing less than a predefined number of files. Anyone with me? |

| Portal Member | please read the archived forum threads: this feature is not likely to be integrated, too many changes required in the main code base. Autoplay for SVCD/VCD |

Country: | Thank you for your input reagan+carter. That thread is talking about VCD and SVCD support. I am talking about CDs containing a DivX/avi file. Currently the My Videos window is shown with the content of the CD in the file list and my suggestion is that if that file list contains only one file, that it would start playing automatically instead of having to select and click it first. Can't be too many source code changes there... Heck I'll even do it myself, I was just looking for some input before I get to work. (S)VCD is a bit more complicated, but I don't see how the suggestion ~ok| gives in post #17 could be so hard to implement either... Regards DalaNorth |

| Portal Member | sorry, i've been a bit elliptic. The first revision of this patch proposed this kind of feature (autoplay for single-file disks), alongwith VCD support: there are more subtle changes to take care of than you think - at least in the first 0.2 RC versions. However I can only speak for these early versions and a lot of things have changed since that time, now the code base seems much cleaner than before. I would be really interested in seeing that kind of feature in MP though! |

Country: | Hi, why only autoplay if one file is on the disc? I have a lot of DVDs with more than one avi/mpeg file on it. We can scan the disc and put all video files in a playlist and automatical start to play the first file in that list. |

Country: | Ronilse: Nope, I guess it takes some time to get everything in place... reagan+carter: Yeah, I'll have some discussions on IRC. Looks fairly easy though.. |
