Default British English loacalization

As an Aussie fan of Media Portal, one of the improvements I'd like to see is an en_GB (British English) option in the language options. While there are only a few spelling differences (programme, colour, dialogue, favourite, hard disc, etc.) these few accommodations make users such as myself (and many others across the Commonwealth of Nations) more comfortable. I, and many of my friends, already use British English localizations of Thunderbird, Firefox, & Open Office, for e.g. and would love to see this option available in Media Portal. I would be more than happy to volunteer my services to help with the task.

Note: I just noticed my typographical error in the title there and, while the "ize" ending is perfectly acceptable, the extra "a" is not - sorry.

You ask for British English and you spell Localisation with a "z" !?

I'm aware of the seeming irony of this but when looking for "en_GB localised builds" on the web you find very little until you use the "z", though, in a GUI, for e.g. I would prefer to use the "s" spelling. Also, the use of the "z" is perfectly acceptable in correct English (though many prefer otherwise) whereas the dropping of "u" & "ue", etc. in other words is not.

Is it not simply a matter of creating / translating the stings.xml file and submitting it as described in the wiki

Might just be the ticket, thanks sufermc.
Not sure what to call it though, since there's already a folder called "English" rather than "English (US)". I'll cross that bridge when I come to it though.

I would suggest English (British) then it would be next to the "other" English folder.

Well as "english" has a special usage for MP's i18n (like master-slave) some devs might consider to update only the GB file whereas others tend to use the AE one. I fear this will end up in a mess..

Maybe adding an XML option similar to the prefix stuff could help with this?

Sorry if I seem a little dense rtv, but I'm a little new to this process (though I'm quite comfortable editing XML) and would genuinely like to help out . Do you mean I should submit 2 "English" folders, one as "English (US)" & the other "English (UK)" or "English (en_GB)" & "English (en_US)"? If so, I'm quite happy to do so and can fix up the 1 or 2 minor errors in the US version as well.

Addendum: I have just posted Patches Item #1685920 on SourceForge.net entitled New English Strings, it includes corrections to the Set-Up dialogue (where the grammar was a little confused) and a few other minor corrections. Not being entirely certain as to whom it it should be "assigned", I have assigned it to " Nobody/Anonymous". If anyone is interested that's where it can be found and I can be PMed here if anyone has any questions. If there is some other thread in which I should notify the Developers of this, let me know.
