Default Crop MyTV Images directly in MP

It's more than one year I'm using MP and I' m really happy whit it.
As many users see and knows, in the extreme sides of TV images signal, there is a sort of black grey part not used for TV images where you can find any sort of stuff: on some TV channels only grey or black but in other cases any kind of garbage. MP usually shows also this part of the TV signal.
What I miss in MP is a stupid feature that permit to crop the black borders in TV images. I know that I can do it with FFDshow, but this implies that I have to crop/zoom of 2-4 the tv images and then resize it at 1280x1024 for example. Due with ffdshow I lose the smooth TV effect on my LCD TV and with purevideo codecs I don’t feel the necessity to use ffdshow I would like to have a crop feature directly in MP. I think a lot of other users have this wish and I hope is not something to impossible to add.
Since with my last configuration I’m not able to use ffdshow without problems, I really need soon a solution that can avoid this horrible black borders on TV where you can see any sort of effect…

Yes i agree with you. FFDSHOW is nice but it works not allways with any mp version or with any codec. on slower maschines i think it can decrase the smothness of the tv picture. A function for cropping in MP would be very very usefull i think.

Isn't what is really needed: Crop and resize?

From my and especially my wifes perspective she wants the same type of tv image as the one we get from the digital-box. Ie from what I understand crop 5 % of the image and then resize it to wanted size.

nobody else who support this request ? how do you other guys make the cropping ? or do you all use an tv with scart for output ? i can't believe that there are not many users with an flat tv with dvi input or an crt monitor with vga input. on all these devices you must see the garbage on some channels around your tv picture, or am i wrong with something ?

infact, the only way I found to avoid black borders, it is to connect my lcd tv with a component 1080i-p or 576p or 720p at my PC, instead of my DVI connection. In this way I can crop black borders, but I lose my sharpnes and I have a new series of problems...

I definetly support it. I have flickering grey borders on the left and the right of my tv image that really annoy me!

Using zoom mode for TV remove these annoying bar for me. But a crop and resize would be cool.

I totally agree with this request!
Moreover, I have got a HVR1300 with a color line bug on rigth side and I don't manage to use correctly ffdshow (see http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/viewtopic.php?t=15364).
Please, this kind of feature (crope & resize) will able to get a TV picture equivalent to a real TV! I also tried to use overscan but it is not enough. Moreover, ZoomMode elimiminates too much useful picture.

Guys! This could (should?) easily be done by ffdshow as well. I've spent countless hours finetuning ffdshow for mediaportals MyTV so I can try to help out in any way I can.

What I did was to get a newer ffdshow version then the MP recommended one, which does not have the MyTV overcropping issue that is with the older versions. 20050303 seems to be the last version that will work out-of-the-box with MP, you can find that here: the issue is solved with 20050303 which you can find here: http://cutka.szm.sk/files/ffdshow-20050303-sse.exe

You can also use newer versions if you proceed as described in this thread.

I have also found that for some reason, using Dscaler for MyTV decoder eliminates the need for cropping. You might want to try that as well.
