Full Bidirectional Support

I think that important & respectable request is full bidi support,

what do I mean:
1. support hebrew & arabic languages reading order. (right-to-left)
i've written this support for hebrew in a personal build of mediaportal, i would like to add it to the main develop thread.

2. extend the alignment support for all of the gui controls, for example scrolltext control currently doesn't have an align option.

3. make it possible to choose in the setup screen, the default reading order and the default alignment, for example - if a skin xml file doesn't contain the align option for a control so the mediaportal will display the control acording to the default as it setted in the setup screen.

4. and finally an option to reverse the screen that each control will be displayed in the opposite side. i mean that if a control is located in position 20,20, its size is 80,25 and the screen size is 720,576 so the control will be located at 620, 576 (720 - 80 - 20). it is very usefull when someone want to use existing skin in right-to-left language.

i can help coding all of those requests, but i'll need your help (and of course a user and password for the SVN)[/b]

Mp will be usable for a lot more people when having support for right to left languages.

Maybe you can team-up with Isaac Lin who's is bussy with support for asian languages, see thius post:

thanks for the replay,
sure it will be usable for a lot more people with left-to-right, but in addition it would be nice if right-to-left languages will be supported to.
i'll contact the developers.

no, the developers want me to send a patch.
(i don't understand why are they so obssesive about the svn access, its an open-source! what is the meaning of that if there is no free access for svn)

there is free access to svn... for download... but can you imagine if write access was given also? remember that a new build of MP is made every night... what happens if your change broke something.. or stopped the builds? well then everyone would start moaning...

the reason for requesting a patch is so that the devs can see the kind of work you do.. and to make sure there are no huge impacts on everything. after a few patches... you may be asked to join the dev team also... i mean after all... companies interview people for jobs... not just give them to people... so its kind of like that really :lol:

thanks for your reply.
1. how about opening a clone of the SVN root that will be opened for everyone, and the main thread will be updated with the good working patches. it will be better then sending patches. (and waiting until they will be imcompatible with the latest version)
2. how is wikipedia can survive with unlimited access for every user? i think that every change that made is made by someone who know what he's doing and if not - the administrator rollbacks his changes.
