Question Hoping for a flat album list

I am a happy MP user since more than a year now. Thank you all smart people for this brilliant program.

I have read through the forum, for example in this thread:

http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/vi...ht=music+views

and realised that a flat album list is not supported in MP. I think this is a pity, since this is the most common way we sort our physical music collections. And the nicest way for the virtual collection as well, I think.

What I mean with a flat album list:
All music albums are displayed at once, but they are not sorted by album name but with the harddrive folder structure. (Making it possible to sort with artistname then albumname) Furthermore the Albums are titled with the desired mp3-tags (preferably artist name and album name, and maybe year)

It can be exemplified with this picture from the "Album List" plugin in Winamp:

The folder structure behind this album this is like this:

I can't get the pictures to appear in this post, but they can be seen here:

Would it be please possible to include this view/sort mode in MP?

Well, I cant see your pictures, but I think there's a way to achieve what you need.

Start Configuration. Go to Music -> Music Views. Choose View: new... and rename it to Album flat (or something).
Set values acc. to pic.
Selection:album ViewAs:List SortBy:Artist Asc:Check

Start MP. Go to My Music. Choose Switch View(Ändra vy, Swedish) and choose the view you created earlier.

Now you have all the albums in one list and can sort them after artist or something else with "Sort by"

Hope this helps.

Doesn't give me what I want, solis66. But thank you.

I have now finally managed to attach the two jpgs that better explain how I think it should look like in Mediaportal, and a jpg of the folder structure.

Could this be possible?

Having this kind of view in mediaportal:

based on this folder structure:

would be a great improvement!

Thank you idioteque,

I have read that wiki several times for this purpose but I never understood how to make the flat album list (ordered by artiist) possible.

One thing which is superior with a folder-based system as shown in my example jpg above, is that Dolly Parton albums can appear between Pantera and Pearl Jam (and not between Dokken and Doom). Do you agree with me on this?

Until the day when a true flat list based on folder structure exists within MP, could you please tell me how to make the kind of ID3-tagged list you hint at? All my mp3s are very carefully tagged, by the way. How should the view look like? I could not make solis66's suggestion work for me.

Björn
