You are right if you have a good programmable remote why go that way. On the other hand if you have a remote that's not programmable (like my HP MCE remote), HIP and the message plug-in or the MCE replacement driver plug-in are good solutions that come free of charge.

And then there is one more thing ... I use the HIP scheduler to automatically switch my AMP 'on' on power-up and resume and 'off' on standby and shutdown. How did you realize that functionality with the programmable remote?

I've got an iMon PAD remote as well... I replaced it by a logitech harmony. The harmony can do all the iMon PAD can and does (at least I think so) a better job.

I've got that harmony set up to perform tasks such as switching the audio input by hitting the Watch a movie or listen to music... I'm getting kinda off topic here anyhow. If you got any questions contact me.

If you use a Logitech Harmony you are able to setup activities such as watch tv, watch a movie...

U can add different devices to 1 activity and tell the devices what to do when such an activity is selected. For example:

When I activate Watch a movie my logitech harmony does the following

1. Turn TV on (if not on already) and select input AV1
2. Turn MP machine on (if not on already) and go to Movies
3. Turn receiver on (if not on already) and switch to digital input -> dolby

The remote sets volume level on the receiver... Playback buttons are programmed for MP etc...
By one press of the power button on the remote every device you tell to gets powered off.
