New plugin idea, Intercom Plugin

It would be realy handy and fun for me to have some sort of intercom plugin, since we have computers in almost every room we could simple press a button and talk. Especially cool for our garden house.

I can't make this myself so i hope I am able to inspire someone.

There should also be some indepandent pc software so it can also run on computers without mediaportal.

sounds like a good idea, but you could always use the existing skype plugin. Then other pc's without MP can also just use skype to communicate.
just make a user for each room and also one for yourself when you are out of the house.

Since an intercom should be available to accept incoming calls at all time, I don't think it should be a plugin per se, because doesn't a plugin only function only during the time it has focus of the screen?

Ok.

Than I would think of a indepented simple intercom program which runs in the background.
And a plugin to operare this program for htpc setups which are constantly running mediaportal.

you'd need two plugins. A process plugin to recieve and pop up an alert to accept the chat and then a windows plug in to actually send messages.

I still think the skype plugin would probably work better though. It already has these functions.

I dont have expierence with skype, but im afraid its to complicated.
I dont want to have anything to do with accepting and stuf.

All I would like is a nice screen with the available online computers. And than you can select one of the computers. With your remote. And with the press of the enter button you can talk untill you press te enter button again.

Simplicity is important.

Maybe on more option at the left side next to the available computers where you can disable/enable the intercom.
