Default Opensubtitles.org

Just stumbled over http://www.opensubtitles.org and thought that this might be interesting for Mediaportal.
It is a database of subtitles for movies and television-shows, but what makes it special is that it is very open.
There are no captchas or any other obtrusive ways to prevent software from performing searches. They even provide an XML version of every page and search result by post-fixing the url with "/xml"

You can download subtitles as zip-files or download the individual srt files etc.

Couldn't this be used as a way for MediaPortal to automatically download subtitles for movies?

This would be excellent!

If an implementation of subtitles on/off also for non-DVD movies, it would be really sweet together.

Yes! Especially considering that MediaPortal already has provision to change the delay on subtitles, which would make it easy to synch it up to a different version with different intro lengths. This might be really helpful for non-english speakers especially.
