2 main points I must agree with.

1. Pandora is far far superior than last.fm in terms of selection quality and intelligence there is simply no disputing this point.

2. I would love to see this at some point in the future, the ads wouldn't bother me. They deserve every cent they get from this useful service.

As postet in the MP Talk it might become open source soon and therefore hopefully becomes an option: Pandora

Just discovered Pandora and instantly thought of MP. This would be a great plugin.

Hopefully the will remove the NON-US limitation....

I am Italian and now the do not let us listen to it anymore because they know where the IP is coming from.

I do not understand why ......but I really hope it wil change.

Pandora is the bomb and they have a limited API, I'm sure if you approached them and agreed to keep the ads in they would at least consider adding enough to allow a plugin. If not I may try to embed mozilla with the pandora plugin.
