Default Sleep Timer

Started on: 2006-12-03
last update: 2006-12-03

Summary:
Give the Power Scheduler the ability to put Mediaportal back into the home screen and suspend the computer after a set amount of time.

Area:
Plugins: Power Scheduler

Description:
I'm one of those guys who likes to go to sleep with the TV on, but thinks it is a waste to leave it on all night. My TV has a sleep timer that I can set to turn it off after a few hours, but MP keeps running. What I would like to do is to be able to set the computer to suspend after a certain amount of time has passed, hopefully through a menu so that I can activate it when I'm feeling sleepy. Right now I have my suspend timer set to 5 minutes, so it would be fine for the action to simply stop playing a video or showing TV and return to the Home screen and let the built-in Power Scheduler functions take over in 5 minutes (unless recording of course).

The MyAlarms plugin is your friend

If I find some time I'll add a menu option to use it more easily..

My alarms only has Shutdown Computer. I don't want to shutdown, I want Power Scheduler induced sleep so the computer can wake itself when its time to record later. It does look like the ground work is there in this plugin. Just need "Stop Playback" and "Return to Home" options.

What about a function where MP asks you "Are you sleepy yet?"

Understood, no problem. Its not a deal breaker, but it would be nice. It will help keep down the power bills.

And some other prompts to make you go to sleep for Piranha:

"Didn't you watch this last night?"

"You have to be at work in 4 hours."

"The doctor is a dead guy."
