Default Sound Card(s)

Hiya

Just a quick suggestion that should be fairly easy. As standard media portal uses the default sound device. Would it be possible to add a check box or do a whole page to configure multiple sound cards so they all play at the same time.

Quote from http://stereo-link.com/Static/Support.html

We will describe two ways of doing this. Windows XP can handle multiple sound devices (including multiple stereo-links). It is up to the application to select the output device it uses. Many players will only use the active "default device", while others, such as foobar2000, can be configured to send sound to two devices simultaneously.

----

Reason I ask is I have a hdmi card outputting sound to TV but would sometimes like my amp on to play music without having to faff and change the default sound card.

Ta in advance.

Hi, I don't have an answer, but I basically have the same question.

I would like to be able to use one sound card for playing video (so that the audio plays in my TV) and another to play music (in the room with the computer), there must be some way of changing the audio output device for playing video from within MP using some kind of plugin.

Other common programs like foobar2000 (file-prefs-playback-output) and Media Player Classic (view-options-playback-output) has this ability. So I cant understand why MP lacks it (or why I cant find it anyway )

Cheers!

Also I would like to be able to unrar files in their respective directory... I can only find the MyUnRAR plugin, which is not nearly done.

edit: Found where you could change souncard (Setup-Movie-Movie Player-Audio Renderer), so never mind...

edit 2: solved the rar problem to, by makeing a .bat file that extracts to the current directory and running the .bat file from the My Programs plugin using the file browser (set to filetype .rar and with the directory used set to %FILEDIR%), essentially i modified this method so that it only extracts to the same folder as the rar files, and then i start the video manually in MP.

I have a problem that goes right along with this. I have 2 sound cards in my system, a SB X-fi that I use for gaming and a built in Realtek sound device that I use for sending sound to my TV set.

I have MP sending the sound throuth the Realtek card fine, but when I try to control the volume, MP only changes the volume of the default sound device (In my case, the X-fi, because most games only use the default). Is there any way to change which 'mixer' MP will control the volume of?

I have the same set-up. Default device = x-fi. On a secondary monitor (TV) and an on-board realtek audio chip I play MP. I can redirect all sound to this device in the MP configuration, but I can't get the volume control to control my realtek audio device. Also, the interface sounds of MP are played on my x-fi instead of on the realtek.

May come in MP2, but no plans to add for MP1 RC.

Too bad it's not in the plan for RC1. You can now only select on which audio device you want sound output but volume control allways controls only the default windows device. So why is there even an option for selecting sound device?
