Default AVerTV Duo Hybrid PCI-E A177 not detected

Hi,

Has anyone successfully been able to get the A177 working for digital TV in Media Portal?

I'm currently using it with MCE 2005 and would like to upgrade.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Funny thing, TV server picks up the card without any problems but MP just won't see it.

This card definition will get one digital tuner working. Copy it into CaptureCardDefinitions.xml once and you will see 2 tuners in the config program.

Mediaportal sees it as 2 tuners but can only access one of them at a time. The problem seems to be that in graphedit the filters are named the same for both tuners, so instead of DVBT tuner0 and DVBT tuner1 you see DVBT tuner and DVBT tuner. If someone knows where these names are stored I would like have a go at modifying it so the 2 tuners can be used.

I did notice the tuner name strings are:
@device:pnp:\\?\pci#ven_1131&dev_7162&subsys_011c1 461&rev_01#4&279e7bdf&0&00e2#{71985f48-1ca1-11d3-9cc8-00c04f7971e0}\{3ff44ee5-8547-402a-94f3-d447f4d70001}
@device:pnp:\\?\pci#ven_1131&dev_7162&subsys_011c1 461&rev_01#4&279e7bdf&0&00e2#{71985f48-1ca1-11d3-9cc8-00c04f7971e0}\{3ff44ee5-8547-402a-94f3-d447f4d70000}
They only differ in the last digit, which is not stored in the card definition xml. Does this mean Mediaportal can't correctly tell the tuners apart????

I have played with the analog definition with no luck - help!

Note please remove the space between &a and mp in the part "subsys_011c1461&" - I didn't put it there and can't remove it when I edit this post.

Thanks for that Ian, however when I run MP config and go to the TV > Capture Cards section, the 'Add' Button is greyed out so I can't even try to add the card after updating the xml file and rebooting.

Any ideas?

Edit: NVM fixed Thanks!

I am not sure what the greyed out button means - probably because MP doesn't detect any cards.

I found the tuner filter names are set in the registry. I changed them and graphedit picks them up OK, but on a reboot they get changed back. Playing around with permissions to see if I can stop that happening.

I had a play and come to the conclusion that the driver is the problem here. I think it uses the filter names originally set in the registry, and doesn't work when I change them. Unless there is another identical card from a different manufacturer I don't have much hope of more than one tuner working on the card in MP.

Please prove me wrong!

Greyed out button was due to having TV Server running on the machine at the same time. Stopped that, and I was then able to pick up the card straight away
