Default DNTV Live Dual Hybrid PCIx - No Channels

Hopefully someone who has this card can help me out...

I failed in getting a dual hybrid avermedia card going with ANY software other than the crap that came with the card. Now I have the DVICO DNTV Live Dual Hybrid Card which I was hoping would be a snap to get going.

MP detects my cards tuners and so does TV Server, but when I do a channel scan, nothing at all is detected.

I have the latest versions as I have only just installed MP. My card works with HyperMediaCenter (basic software included with the card) I just can't get any channels in MP...

I hope this is something simple. I'm good with this stuff, but am getting a little tired trying to get A TV card working at all and am close to giving up my full HTPC dream (since TV integration is the last hurdle)....

I know how you feel, but I can at least tell you that I have quite successfully got that card working, but only digital (I don't believe the analogue problem has anything to do with the card). do your log files indicate anything particular? I suppose you have already double checked all the settings on the scanning page (country, sensitivity etc).

Yep, Have checked and re-checked settings and what not...

Since I have installed the TV3 server, I can no longer detect the card in MP... Is this normal? I ask because I have noticed that the device string for the graph for this card is slightly different to what I got out of graph edit. Does TV3 server rely on graphs? Where does it get its configs for the cards from? there is no cardconfig.xml file (or whatever it is - im at work) that I can edit with this new string and now MP doesn't detect my cards...

I just wan't my card to work with something. This is the second TV card I have purchased for this and it's just way too hard getting it working with anything!

I think the TV server does have a file a bit like that but it is only used as a patch, the main TV card definitions are not needed ,just like any other device in any other program, once windows knows about it (drivers etc) the individual programs don't have to redefine it. I don't know why it wasn't always this way.

It sounds like you may be doing things a bit fundamentally wrong, possibly not. I will just briefly run through the setup and see if you are setting things in the write places.

first you install just the mediaportal client (so therefore tve2), at that stage you have tried and mediaportal detects your card but will not detect any channels where you do a scan

if you have done the previous step you should remove the card from mediaportal before going to the next step (my experience says it doesn't matter, but you are supposed to)

install the TV server and install the TV server client plugin

now in the server setup (not the setup you were in before, but the server one) you have your server listed but no cards in the list or if you do you can scan but find no channels.

does that summarize where you are at? are you using the server settings to tune your card (not adding it to the client when you are supposed to use the server?). Please point out anything you did different or where I have mad a bad assumption

Here's what I did...

- Installed MediaPortal & Tried to get my card working.... Found tuners, but no channels. Decided to try TVServer.
- Installed MYSQL on my media server
- Installed TV3 Server on my HTPC (with card installed) and pointed it to MYSQL database.
- Ran config (In TV Server, not MP) to add card, added card, did channel scan with above results.
- Went back to MP to try and the tuner selection window was grayed out.
- Repeated these steps over again
- did several hours of research on the net
- did more research
- found people with the same issues as me
- found no answers
- got pissed and started posting questions all over the net about this.....

Thing is, I cannot get this card working in BeyondTV, Sage, Meedio, DNTV Live or Media Portal which makes me think I have a dud or these cards are shit. I do hear people with the same card getting it to work, but that's no comfort to me since I bought this card to replace an Avermedia card that was causing me grief after asking the support people about it and they said "it'll be fine".....

Perhaps it doesn't like the ASUS P5K-E MOBO....

Whatever it is, it's pissing me off.

As it's not clear from your post exactly which TV card you have, I assume you have a DNTV Live! Dual Hybrid PCI-E S2 card, and you are trying to receive DVB-T?

If so, then you may have hit the same problem as I did - my TV signal was too strong! I used a TV aerial attenuator to drop the signal by about 10db, and now it works perfectly for DVB-T! I also have the FM radio section working, but haven't bothered with the analog TV section.

also, if the majority of apps don't work, but the one that came with the card does, then maybe you haven't installed the BDA drivers? These are needed for third party software to be able to access the card.

OK, so i've done a bit more testing on this DNTV Dual Hybrid S2 card.

Turns out that one of the dual tuners (tuner 1) was working fine. When I configure this tuner in Media Portal or GB-PVR and do a channel scan on tuner 0, I get nothing, but when I try using tuner 1 I get all tv stations...

I have tried everything and I can only get one of the tuners working no matter what software I use...

Has anyone got any clues?

I don't think it helps much, but I had hat happening with there own software, I thought it was just there software but maybe there was a bit more to it. I think it was even the same tuner working. Have you tried tuning with tuner 1 and associating the channels with both tuners (I suspect it won't help but maybe you'll be lucky and workaround it that way)
