Default Error on installation

TV-Server Version: 1.0 RC1
MediaPortal Version: 1.0RC1
MediaPortal Skin: n/a
Windows Version: XP SP2
CPU Type: AMD Athlon 3700+
HDD: 160GB
Memory: 1GB
Motherboard: Asrock 939dual SATA2
Video Card: Radeon x1600XT
Video Card Driver: Catalyst 8.4

I'm having trouble installing this version of media portal, whenever I click "install" I just get the attached error message, pressing "continue" just yields the same results

I haven't installed any previous versions of the software as this is a fresh install of XP.

Any ideas?

Have you got all windows updates installed, try re down loading Package, may be a corruption in that, take it you have version MediaPortal_Setup_1,0_RC1_Refresh.

Hi This is excatly the same error that I get, when trying to install. Even the pictures from the tread-starter is similar to mine, for further information please have a look at my tread: Can't install MP1 rc1 - error %1 is not a valid Win32program

Windows XP-pro danish fully updated.

Any help is welcome
Cheers

Have you got your firewalls disabled, this can throw out a install error.

Just turned it off, uninstalled, tried again to no avail

I think it occurs when it moves from installing "MediaPortal 1.0 RC1" to "MS SQL Express 2005"

Hi I also tried without microsoft firewall turned on - no change, still the same error.

Somehow, there seem to be something installed. If I quit the program now, and then download the new SVN - and install it - most of MP seems to work.
However, then there are some problems with the TV-server and the database connection - which I don't understand.

Try doing things manually.

You'll need winrar\7zip for this, you will need to install MSSQL Express manually if not installed, right click on the mediaportal package installer and open with your chosen unzipper, deploy folder contains 2 exe's install the mediaportal one first and then the tvserver one second.

Then configure TVServer for your TV and MP for the rest.

Thanks

Doing it manually was possible.
Now I was able to install both MP and the TV-server.
However, I was rather fond of the "one click" solution, as I find the issue of making a database and the connections difficult to understand. But now I have some readings to do.....

Okay so I've done that, without any errors.

Although when trying to connect to the database, using the password "MediaPortal" I just get the following message

"Connection error: An error has occured while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance specified)
