Hi Yannis,

When using MP standalone (i.e. not with TVServer) it is not possible to see Greek Teletext. I know because I digged into the source code to see if it is supported and it is not. I have started writing a patch that enables Greek teletext but it is in a rather premature stage. The patched MP cannot be configured yet and always shows Greek teletext (but supports latin characters as well, just like any TV set sold in Greece). It also does not support any other of the languages (e.g. cyrilic) not currently supported by the official MP version.

On the other hand I have not yet tried TVServer, so I don't know if it supports non-latin alphabet teletext.

If you are interested, I can send you the patch, but it is not yet ready to be included in the core MP source.

Regards,
Panayotis

The attached zip file contains a patched version of the TVCapture.dll in MediaPortal installation directory. It is based on MediaPortal.svn / 06.25.2007 / 16.29.Rev14987.exe. Before replacing, rename the original file to something like TVCapture.dll.org.

Please remember, this is merely a proof-of-concept and has not been tested. Also it will probably not work with SVN versions other than the one mentioned above.

Please also note that the initial MediaPortal teletext page will be shown using Greek character set (and will thus be illegible). Also if you have SAT reception, those teletext pages will also be shown using Greek characters. In the future there will either be some way to select the default language for each channel or better yet autodetection of the language (if possible).

Let me know how it works for you.

What do you mean when you say it does not work? Does it break MP or does it not display Greek in teletext?

Did you use the proper daily build of MP (i.e. MediaPortal.svn / 06.25.2007 / 16.29.Rev14987.exe)? (you have to install vesrion 0.2.3RC1 then install the correct daily build, then replace TVCapture.dll)

Anyway I have already subitted the full patch that also allows you to select the preferred language. Hopefully the feature should appear soon in the daily builds.

Panayotis
