| version 0.2.0.0 Windows Xp Pro The thread title should be "How do I update to Version 0.2.1?" Perhaps ridiculous, but I can't seem to update my media portal. When looking at the instalation notes it says: "execute the MediaPortal-update.exe and point it to your 0.2 install directory" I do not understand what that means but when I simply run the setup file (0.2.1) I get an error message saying: "Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue..." Could someone please tell me how to update? Thank you for a great program! Last edited by sweden; 2006-11-12 at 22:49. Country: | Hi, MP version 0.2.1.0 is a full installation and not an update. You have to uninstall MP 0.2.0.4. If you want to keep your settings, take a look here: http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/sh...ad.php?p=90543 HTH, Flip. |

| thanks for your quick response. I tried the method and lets see how it holds up. I am sure there will be no prob! I am greatful for all the work that has been done to create this awesome program and I am looking forward to try out the new features. But in the future, perhaps installing a new version can be made simpler? I understand that it´s not just an update, but installing sp2 is really no more than a click? (ok here we go, diehard people bashing me for comparing to ms...) As for now I suppose that mediaportal is mostly used by tech nerds, but this great program should be available to everyone regardless of the level of the user, or rather a user that is very lazy and used to the old "click ok to continue"... Once again, thanks for a great program and continue the great effort! |

Country: | Hi, the installation process of 0.2.0.4 on 0.2.0.0 was easier. One Click to run the Updater. ![]() But sometime the changes from one version to another are just to big. An update process then can lead to various bugs. So its safer to do a clean install. Flip. |
