I've just started trialling comskip myself. I found that the one thing I needed to do to finally get it working in my configuration was to ensure that the comskip.ini was correct and not simply the default. In my case, I was lucky enough to find someone who had posted a suitable config file for Australian DVB-T. Also, I found that I needed to set the comskip options in MP (or was it TVE3?) to start after the recording was complete, though I believe it may have worked OK while recording if I changed the ini to suit.

while you will probably want to tweak the comskip configuration the default does work pretty well.

the deal is that it doesn't automatically skip the commercials, it just marks the commercial block. when a commercial block starts hit "skip" or "next" or whatever button you have set to "next chapter" and it will skip to the end of the commercial block.

just got this set up a couple days ago myself.

In my case, it wasn't that I was expecting it to automatically remove the commercials, simply that comskip never actually ran to scan the captured stream. As I said above, I had to change the option to run after the recording had finished to get it to work.

Comskip can currently not process dvr-ms files while recording. In what format did you record?

Are you looking for automatic commercial skip? It won't do that. You'll have to map a NEXT CHAPTER and PREVIOUS CHAPTER button in the fullscreen video section.

That is a too generic question.

Did you read the reame.txt in the distribution zip file?
Did you read the manual.htm ?
Many people only need to select a different output format.

There is a lot of tuning info at the comskip forum at http://www.kaashoek.com/comskip

I found that the default configuration of my standard MS MCE Remote already had the skip button mapped. I didn't have to do anything to get it to work.
