Hello Gixxer,

to to a full backup you have to save quite some files. Here is what I copy (names in "[]" brackets are folders. When I make chains of folders only the red marked subfolder is needed.):

C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\

[language] - Plugins which offer different languages might place their language files in here (MP-TVSeries for example)

[MusicPlayer] -> [Plugins] -> [visualizations] - Contain all visualization files if you have any

[Plugins] - Every custom plugin you have is in here along the standard plugins

[Skin] - Your skins are saved in here. It is also possible that there are some files you have to copy even if you use the standard skins depending on the plugins you use (TVSeries.xml for example if you use the TVSeries plugin)

[WebEPG] - If you use WebEPG your settings are stored in the WebEPG.xml file in here. When you use alternate grabbers they are stored as GrabberXYZ.xml inside the [Grabbers] -> [languageXYZ] folder

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal

[database] - folder - depending on your configuration and plugins there are some very important settings saved here

[input device mappings] -> [custom] - contains cutom keymappings for remote devices (note: if you haven't configured any remote the folder may be empty)

[Thumbs] - Thumbnails of all plugins as well as TV-Logo's and video thumbnails are stored in here

capturecards.xml - Your TV-Cards are stored in here if you don't use the TV-Server

MediaPortal.xml - All MediaPortal settings that you configured in the setup are stored in here

musicdsp.xml - Settings for some MusicFolders are stored in here

ProgramSettingProfiles.xml - This file contains settings about settings of the MyPrograms plugin (If you use it) which are configured inside the plugin configuration

ProgramViews.xml - This file contains settings about file-sorting inside the MyPrograms plugin (If you use it) which are configured inside the plugin configuration

ScreenCalibrationXYZxXYZ.fs.xml - Your screen settings are stored inside this file (layout, OSD position, screensize etc)

I hope this helps.

Hi level20peon,

I'm very eager to try the newest stable MP release but still have some questions which I already posted in this thread: http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/ad...tv-t31321.html

Does any of your tips apply on my situation as well?
Thanks a lot in advance!

uninstall MediaPortal and all your "custom" files like Databases / configuration / skins / plugins will stay in the MediaPortal installation folder.

only exception is vista where all configuration files must be stored on the C: in the programmdata folder.

I added a "Win XP/NT/2000/2003 only" tag... I won't even try out Vista again for a long time, so no Vista support from level20peon

Hi infinityloop - or someone else.
Since I had a problem with a ?missing or corrupt? skinfile I installed MP from scratch - made a big mistake not to copy/backup my original 2.2 system.
So first I 'upgraded' and got that skin problem + systemlocks due to the wrong CCC version.
From that setup, I took a copy and installed a clean 2.3 + svn which runs smoothly now. It was only at this point that I found out about the problems with the graphic driver so I stayed with this clean 2.3 setup.

Now my question: is it possible to get those lyrics and coverart files from the upgraded 2.2 and copy them to my clean 2.3 setup?

I thought that I answered this one in your other thread ?

I never used these functions. After downloading and installing the Lyrics plugin there are two more db files inside the "database" folder named "LyricsDatabaseV2.db" and "LyricsMarkedDatabaseV2.db". These should contain your Lyrics database. Download for Album coverart is broken atm so I cannot test it but have a look for a respective database in the "database" folder as well.

Have a look for coverart files in your thumbs folder as well.

Yes indeed, I found those 2 lyricsdb files, but now I have a problem with the lyrics plugin and apparantly there are multiple versions. I used the that I had before since I don't know if the db's are compatible with different versions.
I'm using 'MyLyrics022.zip" and went for the 'installation with svn' which I have but when I want to configure it from within the MP configuration utlility, it crashes.

I have uploaded the details from the error.

Regarding the coverart: in my old 2.2 folder, there is a 'PictureDatabase.db3' and the 'FolderDatabase3.db3' is much bigger the one in my new 2.3 setup. Is 1 of these files containing the coverarts?
