Hi,
im havin a tough time with this. all day i have been looking for windows mce found it and decided i don't care to pay $120 to have tv on my xbox 360. so i saw somthin about media portal and i decided to take a look. my tivo crapped out on me and the dvr i have sucks, so this was the next best thing (and by the way the 80g hdd came from my old tivo).well i download media portal install, run and i get a little message that says....

Warning: Nothing will be rendered.
The reference rending device was selected but your computer only has a reduced functionality reference device
installed. Please check if your graphics card and drivers meet the minimum system requirements. a software device that implements the entire direct3d feature set but runs very slowly.

so i click ok, a box pops up that has media portal at the top and is like a little picture frame letting me see straight through to my desktop. i know somthings wrong so i close it and get the little media portal box that says

Media portal crashed unexpectedly

click ok get the little media portal test tool run the tests and get the file and i cant figure out which one to read so ill attach it.
i got an error mesage with something to do with microsofts .net framework
Code:
See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.
if theres any thing else yall want to know just tell me.

Also will media portal work with Xbox media center?

Love the title of the thread

In any case, it seems that your graphic card might not be enough to use MediaPortal. Make sure that you have the latest drivers for it and try installing the latest DirectX from here http://www.gamesforwindows.com/en-US...DirectX10.aspx

If it still doens't work, I'm afraid you might have to upgrade your graphic card.

Unless someone else has another idea.

Well I'm a programmer myself and if you ask me we're just using that expression so it doesn't look like we actually did something wrong in the code
