Default MP1.0 SVN 22162 to MP1.0.1 Question

Hi all.

Just a quick question - I am running MP 1.0 final with SVN 22162 and I want to upgrade to MP1.0.1. Can I just run the MP1.0.1 installer and choose upgrade or will I have to roll back the SVN first? How do I do this?

Thank you!

Hi there

See this quote from the release notes:
Quote:
Please be aware that the update function only works on MediaPortal 1.0.0 release installations. If you have a SVN build installed you will have to do a clean installation. If you want to keep your current settings then please take a look at the related wiki article.

Thank you rekenaar, I did search through the release notes but I was using the wrong search terms it seems.

I should be able to use the BackupSettings plugin, do a clean 1.0.1 install and the restore my settings right?

In theory, yes, but difficult for me to commit myself to an answer on that question. You will just have to be careful that an old incompatible plugin-dll is not restored.

If possible, take your own manual backup after clean install 1.0.1, restore settings only, test, take another backup, restore plugins and rest, test again.

This is my concern. I can do a clean Mediaportal install within, let's say within 30 minutes. The long part for me, is the plugins (downloading movie/tv show data, artwork and posters). Perhaps it's worth doing a clean install from scratch again and setting up the shared database as you have linked me to in the past.
