Playback of dvr-ms file issue

Perhaps a Setup Issue?

when trying to play back a dvr-ms format file. the video runs at 4x or so of normal speed, loud static is also heard, Unable to get to play at normal speed regardless of a/v driver selected.

Your log looks a little scary. Lot's of errors in there that I have never seen before. It seems to indicate that your DirectX may be a little "wonky".
You can run a diagnostic on that by going to start/run and typing in dxdiag. This will check everything is ok and run through some tests.

I would also recommend either trying a different codec or tweaking the config for mpeg2dec.

another test is to see if Windows MediaPlayer can play the files. This is what MP uses as the internal player and it will help to know if WMP works or not.

OK, I'm back after having to backup and restore a multi tb drive array. But the problem I was having still remains, except I notice it with files recorded in dvr-ms format. my older mpg video files play ok.

I tried dx diag and no problems there and also the files play ok using the MS media player.


I'm not sure what you mean file -> config ?

perhaps menu then options and config (f2)

this opens up media portal setup, but what then? I don't see anything for software or hardware rendering.

as far as decoder filters go I have the following available

dscaler audio
windvd 7
powerdvd
mpeg/ac3/dts/lpcm
mpeg2dec
dscaler video

Just to clarify, do you mean that when you watch recorded TV with MP you get the issues?
In setup, try different codecs for TV and see if there is any difference. There's a lot of configurability so hopefully something there will work.
Also, in the codec configuration (? going from memory, so may not be exactly called that) in MP setup you can try adjusting some settings for the Codec you choose. It's a long shot but if it works will be a nice solution...

For all of the listed decoders, I get static for sound, and 2x or faster playback.

One more thing, the files were recorded from a different app -- Meedio, Once I get my tv working perhaps I'll try playback of a MP created file.
