I have just installed the new RC1 on a fresh install of Vista, so I know that previous installs aren't causing me grief.

But when I have gone through the installation process I then entered MP TV Server Configuration and went to scan for channels. But instead of scanning it rattled through the frequencies, to quickly to have actually checked, and said none were available.

I checked that the TV Card had installed properly by using Media Centre and running a scan there, it found all the available channels.

I know that it in some of the previous SVN's this was an issue but certainly the last one I used was ok (MediaPortal-svn--03-19-2008--05-05-Rev18080).

Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Cheers

Sy

PS. This is such a shame I was so looking forward to test driving the 1.0 release!

PPS. If there is anything else you need to know give me a shout.

I have the exact same problem with similar logs. This is on a clean Vista 32 bit install, on an Aopen minipc with the built in hybrid tuner.

It could be that just as in my case you simply don't have the right audi/video codecs installed. Auto channel searching will not work then.

I had the same problem with "no signal" showing up for every transponder when I scanned after installing MP 1.0 RC1.

In my case, I had moved my installation folders to a backup location before uninstalling 0.2.3.0, so the uninstall didn't remove the TVServer service.

What I did was uninstall everything MediaPortal-related, then reinstalled only the TV Server portion without any extra plugins or skins, etc. Then I opened a console window at the MediaPortal TV Server directory and uninstalled, then reinstalled the service (TVService.exe /uninstall, TVService.exe /install).

I tried scanning again and it worked fine.

I don't know exactly what was causing my issue, but I thought I'd share my situation.

Seems the hybrid tuner for Aopen minipc is a software encoding card, so an encoder is necessary. Installing windvr3 trial might help, but best option is to only use the DVB part of the tuner, and get another hardware encoding card.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Unfortunately having tried the intervideo encoder and installing the software for my compro card, I am still getting no joy in MP. I have managed to succcessfully scan for channels in the other two peices of software.

I am going to try a fresh install of MP. I will let you know, for those of you in the same predicament, whether it helps.

Cheers

Sy

Ok that didn't help. Any other suggestions.

Otherwise I will have to go back to the old version :-(

The other day I done a fresh install of Vista Ultimate 64 bit, all went well until I tried to scan for channels, non found. Could this be because I had no 32 bit audio or video codecs installed?

Regards.

I have exactly the same problem. I use Floppy DTV S2 with Vista 32 Ultimate. Works fine with the application delivered with the card and did before with MP until the new RC1.
I allso get a very quick channelscan with No signal. Did an uninstall of the (fine working) TVserver and MP before installing MP RC1. Mannually deleted the TV database before installing RC1, but can't get it working!

I just re-installed my OS and MediaPortal installation, tried to scan channels and had this issue again with the latest SVN (MediaPortal SVN-Snapshot:-05-02-2008 18-58h - Revision:19010).

This time, I think I may have narrowed down what I did to fix it.

I slipstreamed my DVB card drivers into the WindowsXP installation, so I thought, "why not re-update the drivers". I went into DeviceManager and right-clicked the DVB card BDA-Capture and BDA-Tuner entries and chose Update Driver. I then let it find the drivers that I already had installed.

Once I did this, I went into the TV Server config, set my LNB settings, clicked OK to apply (I also wonder if this is what did it instead of switching straight to scanning), re-opened TV Server config and tried to scan and everything went fine.

I noticed that the tv.log had 2 entries for psisdecd.dll (one that was installed by my BDA drivers and the other from the dvbfix folder that I added from the TV Server requirements). I re-ran the runme.bat in the dvbfix folder to make sure that only the dvbfix version was registered. Checked the tv.log and only saw one entry for psisdecd.dll now.

My channel scanning is working great now.

Can anyone who is having scanning problems try this:
  1. Set your LNB settings, then click OK to exit TV Server config. Re-open config and scan channels
  2. Re-install your DVB card BDA drivers. Open TV Server config and scan channels.
