Setting up Satellite TV with Media Portal

Hello i was wondering if anyone here could help me get my Satellite tv working with Media Portal.

Currently i have Media Center 2005 running but wanted to see if Media Portal could do the same and if so i would switch over to it.

Currently i have my Bell Express Vu reciever plug into my Sapphire Theatrix (ATI TV Wonder 550 pro), and have the M$ IR blaster and remote so that i control the reciever with my PC. Now i tried to setup TV in Media Portal but i can't seem to get it to work. I did a search on the forum but i wasn't able to find anything.

The first thing is that your TV card is a software card, meaning the encoding to MPG format is done by the CPU not the gfx card.

MP has never supported this type of card but there have always been possibilities. From memory, they tried to get the earlier AIW cards to work, but there were issues with the drivers.

Unless I'm mistaken, your only option is to get a new TV card to plug your satellite box into. If I'm wrong, hopefully someone else will step in and correct me

When you try to add a TV card into MP, is it detecting the AIW device?

Once that is done, then the channels can be configured into MP. Just make sure you configure them as external, then you can train the MS Blasters to control your receiver.

Sorry Marcus but you're wrong on this one

Ati Theater 550 Pro has nothing to do with AIW and MPEG2 is HW...

So It should be possible.

How are you connecting?
