Default ver 0.2.0.0 - weather problem

Hey, just did a fresh install on 0.2.0.0 - and can't get Weather to work.
Both during firstep wizard and configuration - it searches, but can't find the city "copenhagen"... what gives?

"Failed to mperform city search - make sure you are connected to the internet" ... well, I am!

I just checked your city, it's all working okay here.

Try with your browser if you can access http://www.weather.com

If not, your provider could have a routing problem.

rtv - Can you access one of these sites:
http://wwwa.accuweather.com/index-wo...rtner=overture
or
http://weather.yahoo.com/forecast/GMXX0104.html
?

Maybe an alternate to weather.com

EDIT: Added Yahoo weather.

Do they also offer data feeds (webservice) like weather.com? (https://registration.weather.com/reg...n/xmloap/step1)

If not, you'd have to code a web grabber... Maybe we already have another solution, soon we'll see.

ah yeah, www.weather.com is not loading for me

http://weather.yahoo.com/forecast/DAXX0009.html seems ok

Would be cool with some more flexibility...to be able to chose from a list of services.. maybe prioritise them, 1,2,3, so if 1 fails, try the next...?

There is a solution. You have to configure your XP (IE) to use a proxy. This proxy will also be used by MediaPortal and solves access problems. The proxy has to be able to access http://www.weather.com , so may not suffer from your connection problem, of course.

Happy "weathering"...

Ah ok, so MP per default use the proxy in IE? ...
(not that I really use IE, hehe...but in this case I can make an exception)
Gonna write my new ISP about their apparent routing problem as well......
So not gonna consider adding more weather services options?

Yes, fortunately the .NET framework uses the system's (so IE's) proxy settings.

You wouldn't use IE, you just set the proxy for your system TCP/IP stack.

We found out that it's not really your ISP to blame (only partly). The problem is that weather.com blocks all 89.x.x.x IPs. No idea why they do that, maybe they got attacked from an IP from that pool in the past.

Currently not, this needs the coding of new website grabbers, as it seems like the other weather providers don't supply those nice data feeds like weather.com does. Currently we just send in some data about your location and get back a nice stream filled with data. (Similar to amazon webservices, etc.)
