Where is ADD TV CAPTURE CARD?

Newbie- Just installed MP.
1. How/where do I add the capture card?
2. I'm just running one htpc- no servers/clients/sharing. Can I run MP without all these (background) services? I simply want to watch/record OTA HD TV.

TVServer needs to be run as a service, especially for HDTV, have you got it installed and configured for your TVCard, there is no add button as there is in MP's old MyTV inbuilt engine.

Tv Server is installed. But I do not understand how to configure it. When I run TV-Server Configuration it goes to Setup database connection / Database location / Database logon. When I enter anything into User ID / Password and click Test is turns red???

In Media Portal Configuration under Television I have:
General- Decoders / Zoom modes / Channel Numbers
TV Client- Tv Server / Audio Settings / Subtitle Settings
TV Post Processing- Filters
Teletext- Settings

There is no capture card listed. Is there some way to run a wizard or something to detect the card? I am totally lost.

MediaPortal, is the password case sensitive, by the sound of it the database did not setup automaticaly as it should.

Once the mssql database is accessed then you run TVServer Config\TVServers and expand that menu, your TVCard should be there to tune channels, have you got that appearing.

I got it all working, yes. Just not an easy install. And so many background services just to watch Tv and record... I'm re-thinking if I need all this. Thanks, onto more fun!
