When trying to import channel info using the 'Import from TVGuide' button under Media Portal Setup/Television/TV Channels - I get a message stating
--------------------------------------------------------------
error importing tvguide from
J:\ Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\MyXmltv\tvguide.xml
error: No xmltv file found
--------------------------------------------------------------
I first though that xmltv is something preloaded with media portal. I then downloaded xmltv-0.5.41-win32 and when I tried to extract the zipped file, it asked me for a password. Before I go any further - am I doing something wrong. I live in Florida - USA if that helps as well. Trying to get my channel line ups correct.

make sure your xmltv is created in the /mediaportal/xmltv directory or else it wont work...it needs the "xmltv.dtd" file which is in that directory...or copy the "xmltv.dtd" file to the directory u are using and reconfigure it in setup

Hi
I am getting a similar problem; when i hit the 'import from xml' button, the message says 'this is not a valid channel list', and when i try to import from tv guide, it says 'root element is missing'.
I have unpacked the xmltv package and run it to configure, but i cannot log into zap2itlabs as i cannot find a certificate number anywhere, just reams of channel data. I suppose this is the problem?
I have also read about people using the autotune function; where is this?
all help welcome
cheers!

ps I can't get the template to work either, but my setup is c3m266 mobo with onboard grafix, 1.2 celeron, 512ddr, Nvidia NVTV tuner.

I just found the autotuner - not got anything out of it yet tho...

Scratch that; I got my tvguide working!
A bit more searching on the website pointed me to the docs in the xmltv\doc\man folder.

1. run xmltv.exe tv_grab_uk_rt --configure
I am not prompted for any certificate numbers here; is that normal?
You can select the channels you want from here, but I find the Radio Times system clunky and slow, so I set it to 'all' and deleted the unwanted channels as below.
2. Go to xmltv\.xmltv\tv_grab_uk_rt.conf, open this with notepad and edit out the channels you don't want.
3.run xmltv.exe tv_grab_uk_rt --output tvguide.xml
This creates the tvguide.xml file in the xmltv folder
4. Open MP configuration, television/channels, and click on 'Import from TVguide'.

Job done!
well it worked for me anyway. Problem is, I still can't get the autotune to work, so no TV yet.
