Default You can't be serious: Windows Media Player 11 needed to run MP?

installed latest svn and when starting MP window appear stating that MP can't run without Windows Media Player 11 installed. This is a joke, right? previous versions (don't remember which one was previous) didn't needed this.Seems to me that MP turns into fragile piece of software.

MP11 is in the list of requirements. Mediaportal depends on some libraries that MP11 provide. Don't like it, don't install it, simple as that.

Pardon me, but how requiring WMP11 is making MP any fragile? And if you want to blame someone please do it in Microsoft direction. Latest BDA related fixes are requiring WMP11 dlls so that they can be registered.

I agree with stoked.

You cant be serious to be angry to a FREE program because they use another FREE software to work.

You installed Windows, i think MediaPlayer doesnt matter anymore, doesn't it? So get uninstall MediaPortal and use another one

Guys,

I really appreciate your work and effort on this project and I don't want to make you responsible for my decisions, so please don't take my "shouts" personally.

Regards

Why is it that I think that all the people complaining about WMP 11 are the ones with a less than legal copy of Windows, and thus difficulties installing WMP11? Maybe not..just a guess!

Different story. It just annoys me today to download WMP installation over my GSM modem on different machine. Yes, I'm lazy and I didn't expect this new requirement to MP. Anyway WMP installed, MP showed main screen, I'm going to play with it. Sorry guys again to waste your energy to such thread. Better to spend it on 1.0 final to be as best as it can.

I've never meant it personally to anyone. Appreciation of your effort to this project is honestly, personal. Keep it goin', guys.

What dlls exactly?
I'm coming from this thread:
Why will Windows Media Player 11 be a requirement?
Maybe the dlls get installed with wmfdist11.exe so the complete wmp11 would not be necessary. I'm running wmp10+wmfdist11 here just fine.

Just for the records the wmp11 installer includes the following installers if extracted:
umdf.exe
WindowsXP-MSCompPackV1-x86.exe
wmdbexport.exe
wmfdist11.exe
wmp11.exe
wmpappcompat.exe
