Country: | I'm sure IRSS doesn't do this "out of the box", but I've been wondering if it's possibly to implement HDMI-CEC control, and IRSS seems like an ideal place. It'd be nice to turn HDMI devices on/off etc, without having an IR blaster. I understand that it's a effectively a network, so it might be possible to control an amp AND a TV froma signal connection through the amp. Apparently HDMI-CEC is just a single wire serial, run on Pin 13. I don't know if the graphics cards manufacturers will ever implement it. I would imagine that it would need some kind of gizmo between Pin13 and the PC, USB perhaps, but I ain't no expert... There is a Protocol for HDMI-CEC, but I've not been able to get a copy, but this document is useful: http://www.quantumdata.com/pdf/CEC_White_Paper.pdf I'm sure Aaron has plenty on, just wondered if someone could develop a plug-in for IRSS? |
