OK so I've just built my 1st HTPC, I've got the Antec Fusion case with built in Imon VFD + IR, I'm using an OEM Microsoft MCE Keyboard with the Imon IR.

I'm trying to get this working properly with MediaPortal but no matter what I try it just doesnt seem to want to respond to my button presses. If I put the IR suite into iMon mode my VFD turns off and that's the end of that! I'm running vista ultimate 64bit.

Please help

Hi,

IÄm using a silverstone GD01 with ImonPad and LCD Display. While i couldget the display to work just fine with the cybermage plugin i'm having trouble with my remote:

1. If I use the imon manager with the appropriate files I can use Mediaportal while running Imon. The problem is that I can't use keyboard mode, which is annoying.

2. If i use the MPcontrol plugin with IR server suit I can use the remote as a mouse (left / right keys etc), which also works e.g. in WordPad. I cannot get the play / stop button etc to work.

So I have two ways of getting half the way... has anyone an idea what's wrong with my setup?
Thanx.

Did anyone get an Apple remote with Mac Mini and WinXP SP3 working? The volume works fine in XP so I assume the remote is working but no reaction from the Debug client.
The input service log says that it can't find a device.

hi, im using a home made serial port IR reciever, and currently am configured using winlirc and IRserver.

seems i have setup something wrong with interfacing Irsetup with xbmc, and was hoping someone may be able to suggest a plugin to try for me to use IRserver directly without the need for winlic.

obviously, the advantage of winlic, is that i dont need any actual manufacturers drivers as such.

failing that, i need to try vk commands to map special keyboard buttons. ie arrow up

regards,
Dam0

Hi guys,
I have a few problems with IR trans dropping out VERY regularly.
I am running Vista ultimate. Originally I bought an MCE remote and receiver and the green button kept starting VMC. I disabled the reg keys and all was good, no VMC anymore

When i start the HTPC I have to wait a while for MPtray and Irtrans to start but then they both drop out after around a min. I restart them and they come back on again. I can be watching the TV and then go for the tv guide (or whatever) and the remote has stopped working. Check the task bar and they have both stopped and aren't connected again. Restart IRserv and all is well. This goes on constantly and is totally random.
Is this a known issue or is there something that I may not have configured correctly somewhere??

PS I changed from the VMC remote to the Harmony one and no change. Same thing with the service dropping out whenever it feels like it?

Any comments or help would be great.

Kev

I just wanted to check whether the IR Server Suite and its updates for iMON USB devices (downloadable from the first post) work OK for you guys?

Since I am using a Chieftec HT-01 case with an OEM iMON VFD and iMON remote, I too am experiencing problems with this display and the remote. I just cannot get both to work OK.

That's why I have read the entire threads on IR Server Suite, CybrDisplay, ShortCut'er and others related to iMON receiver/remote devices. (It took me more than 12 hours of reading!!!)

I ask this question, because 2 months ago, CybrMage posted this in his topic:

Quote:
I used to suggest using the latest release of v6 of the iMON driver that was distributed by the manufacturer of your case... (because, with the v7 your remote will not work properly with FrontView turned off)... but, I now recommand that you do not use the iMon Manager at all...

I recommend that you use the IR Server Suite by and-81. It now has support for the iMon remotes, and co-exists with the display driver without any issues.
(You still need to have a version of iMon Manager installed... any version... the sg_vfd.dll is still neede to communicate with the display!, so DO NOT uninstall iMon Manager... just configure your system so that it does not run on startup, and disable the iMon Manager options in the display driver)
Does this mean that there is indeed a working solution for iMON devices/vfd, or is work on this solution still ongoing? If there is a solution, what files do I exactly need for MP, which version, and how exactly do I need to install and configure them???

1. iMON driver
2. IR Server Suite
3. CybrDisplay

I already tried the this combination with the latest files, including the MP RC2 without any SVN (and for iMON driver also the version 6.2.0.8), but the iMON vfd and the remote simply never worked BOTH correctly.
- There seemed to be a conflict between several plugins or drivers, since my iMON vfd was constantly switching between the clock displayed and the text "MediaPortal active" displayed. Also my iMON remote was not working then.
- When I exit MP, only the clock is displayed on my vfd, and the iMON remote is still dead.
- If I then open IR Server Suite Config, and press Detect button, I hear the Windows sound for plugged-in USB device and unplugged USB device. My iMON remote then works again. In the config screen iMON box is checked, but also a box for "Windows messaging".
- If I uncheck the Windows Messagin box and again press the Detect button, I hear the Windows sounds for plugged USB devices again and the box for Windows Messaging is automatically checked again. Why???
- All this happens even when I disable the CybrDisplay and/or the iMON driver, or when I play with the settings in the plugins.

Either I am doing something wrong, or there is still a conflict between certain files.

For this reason, I re-installed my image of a fresh install of XP Pro SP3 with all programs that I use and the necessary codecs and files for MP. Now I want to start over again with MP RC2 without a TV Server and do it the right way IF THERE IS CURRENTLY "A RIGHT WAY."

sl1200,

I have the same hardware as you have and since I upgraded to RC2, the VFD display no longer works...

The remote works OK inside MediaPortal but VFD does not.
IMON: 6.2.0.8
IR Server Suite: 1.4.2 RC1

jolcese, that is too bad! But does that mean that you did have a working setup with RC1 (in combination with a certain SVN) before???

Yes, it worked OK with RC1 (and all the following svn versions)
Because RC2 deletes the configuration, I assume I'm missing something now...
