Hi Aaron!

Have you given the "keyboard-through-MCR-receiver"-idea? (Using MCE IR-receiver to learn and accept different keyboards).

I know you are busy, but had to ask

@petsa:

I'm glad you like the plugin.

I was thinking of having a whole new set of programmable buttons when in Mouse Mode, and I've toyed with adding more hard-wired mappings. I'll have a bit of a muck around with it and let you know what I decide. I'll definitely come up with something to do what you want.

If you have any other ideas, let me know.

@Spragleknas:

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Can you map buttons on your IR keyboard in the "Different Remote" section of the plugin? If you can then I can pretty easily make a keyboard mapping section. Which would basically work the same as the different remote section but with keyboard mappings... Let me know and I'll look into it further.

Thanks,

Hi Aaron

Tested it thoroughly and see no problems so far.... great job.

One thing though, I had to recapture all my IR commands as it did not pick up the original ones I did with your previous release.

Cheers

Thanks for the feedback geov.

I think I explained in an earlier post (I should have mentioned it again) that the location it stores IR and Macro files has changed. To the application data folder. It should be in the docs somewhere ...

Sorry for the inconvenience it caused you. But it's great to hear that it's working properly for you. Let me know if that changes. But I'd say we're just about ready to release it on the Download section (once the update goes into SVN).

Thanks,

I'll give it a try when nobody is using the HTPC. The keyboard also has a track-ball-thingy. Any chance this can be used as a mouse (I guess it is only 4-way movment?).

I don't know how these IR keyboards work, and I assume that each one will be slightly different to the next. I'll look into it, and if you can get back to me on the mapping thing that will help, but I can't make any promises.

Aaron, I'm still having problems with this plugin.
I uninstalled the old version & installed the Jan 24th version for the 0.2.2.0 release. It appears to learn my remote codes (a Coolsat 5000), but it won't change the channels even though the blaster blinks.
I've tried all the speed settings but nothing works. If I remove the replacement button mappings, I can't control MP until I reset them.
Is there a file that's created when it's learning codes? Would it help if I sent it to you?

Chris

The plugin creates files with a ".IR" extension in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MediaPortal MCE Replacement Plugin\IR" folder.

But if the IR bug is flashing then the file definitely has something in it, so I'm afraid there would be no use in sending it to me.

It could be that the codes are not being learned correctly (for whatever reason).

I found these discrete codes on the net, copy the attached zip file's contents into your IR folder (see above) and give them a go. Let me know how it does.

Cheers,

Hi Aaron!

Having a problem with the latest version: It doesn't seem to catch the suspend / resume events any more. I left out some versions, the last one I tried was around when 0.2.2.0 came out and suspend / resume worked like a charm.

I updated today to the latest svn and this test version of MCE-Replacement and nothing gets blasted when I suspend / resume.

Once again: Thanks for your great plugin!

cheers, Michael

EDIT:

Sorry, didn't have a look into the original thread; the problem with the event mapper seems already be known.

Thank you Aaron for looking into it!

Hi Aaron,

2 things. First I wanted the blaster to be able to switch on/off my AVR. SO I learned it the Power Off from my AVR remote control. It says 'learned'. So when it did that I try the 'Test' button, assuming that it will 'blast' to the bug (Is that what they are called, the two that have a wire going into port 1 and 2). Anyway, nothing happens. My AVR does not switch off (The bug is close to the IR receiver of the AVR). Avtually I dont see the bug doing anything, should I? Also when I hold the bug close to the MCE IR receiver, I dont see anything happening , the receiver does not blink, when I press the 'Test' button.

The second thing has to do with the first. As I said I want to be able to use the MCE remote TV power button to switch on/off my AVR. However the remote of my AVR has a separate power on and a power off button. Now what I would like to have is a toggle option. Such that when I press the MCE TV Power , it sends a power on, and next time when I press the TV Power it sends a Power off . The plugin would just remeber the last one and send the other one the next time.Would be a nice feature.

Thanks

Ben
