@MJGraf:
That will be fixed real soon.

@Ben:
Try re-learning the IR commands, and changing the blaster port, blaster speed and blaster type settings. You should see the IR Bug flash when it's blasting. If you don't see it flash then you don't have the right port, or blaster type set.

I considered toggle style buttons early on in this project, but I put it in the too-hard-basket and didn't bother. It's not really too hard, but it does complicate things. The way I've got around it in the past is to put the on and off commands right next to each other in a macro. So when you press that button it sends both the on and the off one after the other. I use that with my TV.

Say the macro is this:
TV_On.IR
TV_Off.IR

If the TV is off and it sees the on command it switches on, while it's turning itself on it takes a few seconds and ignores the off command.
If the TV is on and it sees the on command it ignores it, it then sees the off command and switches off.

This approach works for me. Give it a try and see what happens, once you get it blasting at all off course.

If I get a rush of blood to the head I will have a look at supporting toggle buttons, but I won't make any promises right now.

Thanks,

Aaron, I'll try the double macro approach as soon as I get the IR blaster to work.
Another option that would be interesting, for me, is a pass-through option. Reason being is that my AVR and HTPC are both hidden in a closet. Only the MCE remote receiver is visible from the outside. Using the pass-through option I could use my AVR remote with a closed cabinet. Basically it would just blast any received and not recognized command to the bugs.

Tnx,
Ben

Let me know how you get on.

As for the idea of IR pass through. I like it a lot. Unfortunately it's not possible without a significant rework of the way the plugin interfaces with the IR receiver.

This is something I looked at doing about a week ago and then gave up on because it looked like more work than I was willing to put in at the time. However, I will revisit the idea after the next release of the plugin has been made.

So keep an eye on the forum and see what happens.

Cheers,

Test version has been recompiled against latest SVN, user had reported that the plugin failed with new SVN releases.

If anyone has any problems with it let me know. I'm currently improving the mouse mode implementation and once I'm happy with that I'll release the plugin onto the download section of the website.

Default power tv button

Hi Aron,

I've installed your plugin together with the replacement of the remote driver.
It works fine except for the power tv button of the windows MCE remote.

I'm using MP 0.2.2.0 with no extra SVN installed, I've installed the Rollup 2 for eHome Infrared Receiver as I'm using windows XP.

the issue is the following:
when I use the power tv button of the remote with MP open, the computer goes to standby no matter what are the settings in MCE replacement window.

Is there any other place where the buttons are set and overtaken my settings?

without the plugin the button reacts as I want.

Thanks,

Ralph

Make sure you've disabled MediaPortal's built in MCE remote support.
Also, double-check that the replacement driver is installed. You need to follow the instructions in the documentation to install that.

Without the replacement driver installed you will still have MCE's default mappings.

Give that a try and let me know how you get on.

Hi Aaron,

I've been using your plugin since 0.2.2, but was quite bothered by the scheduling bug (nothing to do with you) so as soon as i learned about that being fixed in SVN I upgraded to a SVN on 1-30-2007. I also downloaded the test version (1st post in this thread) and installed it choosing SVN and not 0.2.2.

I have been trying to re-learn the IR commands to control my STB for about 2 hours now and I could really use your help.

I go thru the process to learn a button. In this case I am just inputting numbers 0-9 for the time being. I try to test it, and the blaster flashes like it did before, but I get no reaction from the STB.

I have relearned it several times, I've tried with regular driver and with the driver installed to c:\program files\MCE Replacement Driver. I have rebooted.

Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.

What is your STB. I'm having the same roblem with my SA Exlorer 2100, but no problems with my explorer 8300. (both use the same IR codes). With the USB-UIRT It works fine (not using the plug-in). I wonder how hard would it be to integrate the USB-UIRT into MCE replacement plug-in.

I have a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 3250 which I'm pretty sure all use the same codes according to some research I did online at some tivo forums, ironically

I am using the MCE remote with included blaster. These worked perfectly until I tried the SVN and the test plugin.

Maybe I should try another SVN?

@elconejito:

I don't think it will be the SVN or anything like that causing the problem.

If you already had codes learned for the previous version of the plugin they are still on your hard disk in:
C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Plugins\Process\MCEReplace ment
(or something like that)
The plugin now stores them in:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MediaPortal MCE Replacement Plugin
(or something like that)

You can copy the .IR folders from the IR folder of the old plugin to the IR folder of the new plugin and they will work.

Also, you should definitely try changing the blaster speed setting. This is a new setting in the latest test versions of the plugin and can improve blasting accuracy greatly. In fact, it's the difference between working and not working for some devices.

I tried to find some codes for your device on Remote Central but I couldn't find any in CCF format. It might be worth looking around yourself to see if you can find any.

@CRasch:

I've often thought about giving other IR devices the Replacement plugin treatment... I actually own a USB-UIRT, though I've never even used it... but I could test for that really easy, so I probably should look at supporting it.

In fact, I will look into supporting the USB-UIRT next week. How's that.

I'll post back when I know something.

Also, there's IR code files attached for your set top box. Give them a try and let me know if they work. If they do I'll include them in the next test release.
