If you want greater control over your mce remote try disabling MediaPortals built in support and switching to something like IR Server Suite, HIP or Girder. It's a bit more mucking around but the flexibility is far greater.

But to begin with just try disabling the registry key. If that doesn't work you can recover the registry by re-installing the mce remote driver in device manager.

Best of luck,
Thanks for the quick reply and-81 Do you know if you can selectively delete those registry keys so that I can still let Mediaportal mainly support the remote, and let Girder take up the slack or do they all have to be deleted to work? I have used Girder to support a previous remote, and I didn't like the responsiveness compared to MP's built in support. Out of interest, do you find HIP/Girder works as well as MP's built in support with the MCE remote?

Cheers

Try removing the registry key, it will probably all still work with MediaPortal though you will need to modify the mce remote map and un-comment some of the keys (the arrow keys for one).

I've always found HIP to be absolutely brilliant. I love it. I used it with MediaPortal many moons ago, but wanted something more integrated, which is why I started on the MCE Replacement Plugin.

I've used Girder from time to time, but I've never gotten into it. I don't dislike it, I just can't be bothered with it. It seems like such a chore to configure and I just can't be bothered. But your results may vary.

Hope that helps,

PS. I edited your post to clean up your quote a little.

Thanks for your help but I found the solution to my problem in an unrelated post. All I had to do was disable in Power options the setting which determines what happens when you press the "Sleep" button.

Thanks again for your help.

Hello, I am using ECS A780GM-A mainboard with 32 bit Vista SP1 included. I have a big problem with my Philips SRM 5100 dongle with this mainboard. When I plug and play SRM 5100 USB Dongle Vista automaticaly setup the USB driver and my remote working exactly. After restarting Vista , USB Dongle Driver became UNKNOWN USB DRIVER on the device maneger, and SRM 5100 doesnt work at all. In order to use SRM 5100 every time when Vista starts, i have to unplug the USB dongle then plug the USB dongle. Any advice about this boring problem? Thanks a lot.

No, it will break the MCE-remote in MCE 2005....this was only for MediaPortal not MCE 2005.

I'm confused. What's eHome in the Media Portal context?

I have tried "eHome" in the MP banner search box, 0 results.
I have browsed the Plugin > Input directory, but couldn't find it.

Where do I get this eHome driver?

Is there any documentation for it? (The MCE Replacement claimed to have documentation in the .ZIP, but it didn't.)

The reason I'm asking, I have the Streamzap remote + IR receiver, and want to use it with Media Portal 0.2.3.0 (should I use a different version, like 1.0RC1?)
The MCE Replacement only works with 0.2.2.0.

Thanks for reading.

I thought the StreamZap remotes were X10 remotes and not MCE based remotes so the replacement driver will do you no good. I think if you select X10 type remote it will work for you. Not positive but I support Streamzap remotes with Intelliremote and the only ones I have ever seen have been X10 based.

Hope that helps!

X10 is supported by MP (btw: You should consider updating to RC2). See MP configuration -> Remotes

If not - try IR Server Suite found here: IR Server Suite - Version 1.0.4.1
Unlike Intelliremote it's 100 % free.
