Country: | Using the method currently described in the first post you definitely can use the default driver with HIP and Girder 3. I've just re-tested it on my PC here and it works 100% for me in both HIP and Girder 3.30. I haven't tested on any other versions of Girder. HIP and Girder 3.3 both use the same method (Bruno's MceIr.dll) for accessing the device. Perhaps there is something wrong with your configuration? What OS are you using? Has anyone else had any trouble with Girder, the default driver and the registry modification I posted about? Cheers,

Country: | Thank you very very much! I've been fighting with the document last few days: http://www.byremote.com.au/Hip/mce_remote_faq.htm and trying to get HIP working on my Acer L3600 (which comes with Vista and a MCE remote control). No success, until I saw the website updated and refering to this thread. Great stuff! |

Country: | It's worth a try. I don't have a "Vista Only" remote to test with, but theoretically you could put the VID and PID for that device into the .inf file for the replacement driver and give it a try. Let me know how you get on, or if you need help let me know. Hope that helps,

Country: | What I tried to do was just install the driver with device manager witch worked ok, The driver installed and there where no problems with that. But the remote dose not work at all. %USB\VID_0471&PID_0815.DeviceDesc%=MCEIR.Dev, USB\VID_0471&PID_060C This is the VID&PId ids of the device. This remote came with a HP Laptop with vista. Any idea what can be wrong? |

Country: | It wont work without some software that can use the replacement driver. That is, it won't work like the default driver. I'm not sure if you're saying that it doesn't work even with some software support. ?

Country: | You could try my one (IR Server Suite) linked in my signature, but I can't promise anything because I've not tested it. You may be out of luck for now. I've been wanting to get my hands on a Vista MCE remote for a while now but haven't really got the cash to spend. If I do in the future I'll be sure to announce it here. Cheers,

Country: | I got it to work with HIP. I changed the VID and PID in the .bat file and the driver installed fine. The remote is designed for Vista and if i tried to install the driver with device manager It always used the vista inf. Then I used HIP and it works. Thanks for all the help. |
