Question 50% CPU every x minutes

Hi,

I wondered if anyone may be able to explain the following:

Every 2 minutes (ish) MediaPortal at idle does something for around a minute that pushes my CPU into 50% usage and then cycles down again.

I found out because I was testing a new watercooling setup with a new pump.

Attachment shows temprature and cpu usage at the time.

Not really bothered, just wondered what it could be.

Using current stable version.
Pentium D
4GB RAM
Happauge digital/analouge and Teratec dual digital cards

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,

Here`s my suggestion:

1) Go in your MP setup and disable every possible plugin that you can deal with.

2) If you are still experiencing the cpu issue, then you should start looking at external stuff that MP might be depending on (ie. ffdshow, programs added recently, Windows upgrades and patches, etc...)

3) If the problem disappears after step 1, then re-enable the plugins one by one and carefully monitor your cpu between each one until you catch the bad guy.

4) One last solution would be to work with Windows task manager and `kill`every non-system process that you can, one of them might be giving MP a rough time, never know.

Good luck!

Hi,

Thanks for reply.

So is this not 'normal' behaviour?

Thanks,
Chris

Do you use wireless network? Windows Zero Configuration can cause this, try disabling it (in services) and see if it helps..
