Hi dinotooth2

Not that it is really much help to you but before I moved last October I used UK FTA satellite (I still have to get someone to sort out the dish at my new house). I have a pair of Hauppauge WinTV HVR-4000s and I could watch BBC HD fine in MediaPortal.

The scan in TV Server picked it up fine. If you are just using MediaPortal 0.2.3 (or 1.0.0.0 RC1) without TV Server I am not sure whether you will be able to get BBC HD or not as I don't think it does high definition. I assume you will also need a H.264 Codec although I guess Power Cinema should come with one.

INstall TVServer, First option in MP1.0RC1 installation choices, do you want to watch HDTV, which selects TVServer to be installed.

Have a read of the setup information in the wiki about the TV Server and the Deploy Tool.

When using the Deploy Tool the default user id is "sa" and the password is "MediaPortal".

Hi thanks for the above links very helpfull but i still am having problems i follow the wikii guide and everything runs fine have entered sa and media portal as login and password test and it goes green save and media tv server settings appear , connection ok message then server not running start all this goes fine, i can now see my tv card can scan channels, but wen i run portal and go on my tv i get the message please specify the ip address or host name of the master tv service and under it current settings is the correct name "htpc " but if i click change and type name again it says unable to connect to tvserver unable to connect to databse ... ive unistalled everything and reinstalled with the same problem, have no probs during installation firewall congifigured fine just wen i actualy go on my tv.... and yes htpc is in tvserver settings and showing as master server ... is there any other way of getting the bbchd without using tv server or am i still missing something again appreciate you folks trying to help me out am using vista 32 if this helps...

If you go into MP config\television\TV client, have you got the correct name there (case sensitive)

And yes you do need TVServer for HD

Is the SQL browser\SQL writer services running in taskmanager.

Are you using this with User Account Control enabled, i had major issues trying to get MP running smothly with a normal admin account, end up having to do this to create a full admin, after this have had no problems since.
