Anyone see this article regarding HD on TVNZ?

TVNZ's long road to high-definition - New Zealand's source for technology news on Stuff.co.nz

2010 before native HD content is available?!?!?! Is this just a PR exercise to lower expectation or have TVNZ screwed up something?

It does raise the point though of how much better are the commercial upscalers over what we're doing? Now that I've got the new graphics card I just increased the res to 1080P and standard sat freeview looks great but Sky looks no better, but then no worse either. I wonder how much better terrestrial HD actually will be. Any comments?

How it was written I almost wondered if their contracts with overseas didn't include HD content. Either that or they're trying to "manage expectations" I hope not though. The native HD stuff I've seen so far looks so much nicer.

I was under the impression that the broadcast equipment they use (TVNZ at least) needs to be updated before they can air HD Content and that would not be complete till next year sometime
