Question DVB-T Tuning on TvServer in Christchurch

Howdy all,

Just a quick question - When setting up the TvServer with my AverMedia DVB-T USB tuner, the only local NZ tuning option is for New Zealand - Auckland (Trials). This is all well and good, but after the scan it only finds 5 channels (TVNZ ones only) with no Mediaworks or Kordia. Also, the frequencies are wrong and I have to edit them manually to match what Dvbviewer has picked them up as. Once the settings are correct everything runs fine. How do I get TvServer to scan the correct frequency range to pick up ALL of the DVB-T channels available (Dvbviewer gets 17 including the 2 radio stations)? Is there a file I can edit with the appropriate ranges?

Cheers,

Matthew

You can get it here, you need to put it into C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\TuningParameters\

Or you can edit the dvbt.xml file thats in there already

Can't help with the power scheduler sorry, I've never used it.

How do you wake your machine and get it to shut down again after recordings?

Hi all,

I am in Wellington and because of my location I am restricted to the transmiters on Mt. Fitzherbert channels 51, 53 and 57 rather than the KauKau bunch. On rescanning yesterday and today, I can pickup 10 services from channel 57 but no sign of TV ONE, TV2, TV3 and C4 on channels 51 or 53.

I assume that because I can pickup Parliament TV, Maori etc. on channel 57, that my card is OK and that TV Engine 3 can see the card and drive it. So, does anyone else using this transmitter have any issues with it at the moment or is there something else I need to be reviewing in my setup. PS: I use the CoreAVC package and currently I am using MP v2.3.0 SVN 17930.

Cheers Mike

Having a few problems with TVServer. I can not get it to pick up any of the freeview channels. I am using McraeNZ info from his site. But when I use normal Mediaportal I have no problems scanning them. So I know that the Technisat PCi card is working and the dish is all aligned.
I have tried on several builds of TVserver and still nothing. Any body have any suggestions or had similar problems?
Please help!

Hi - I've just joined the Mediaportal community, haven taking the opportunity to switch from XP MCE over Easter. I was getting sick of MCE's little quirks after running it for 18 months or so.

I plan to put up another 90cm dish with dual LNB to feed a couple of satellite tuners for Freeview, something you can't do with MCE. Already have a 90cm with Moteck but will keep that for feed hunting! A 2.4m or larger for C band is on the 'wish list' but that's a little further off in the future.

And of course Hedgehope isn't on the first wave of DVB-T so I'm not worrying about any of that yet. Strange how we got TV4, Prime and Maori TV on day one.....

On the subject of scanning for UHF:

Thanks for the hint - it works nicely here. I guess that the equivalent of the MCETuningOverrides.xml file needs to be surfaced in Mediaportal so you can force it to scan UHF. Just like a default MCE install it is just not scanning UHF by default and only scans VHF bands I and III - TV1/2/3/C4/Cue here. Switching to Cable appears to ignore the country setting, scanning every frequency in bands I, II, III, IV and V on a 2 MHz stepping.

Hi, yes I had the same issue. On the McraeNZ site he advises to edit the Optus D1 file as follows:

12483,H,22500
12456,H,22500

I found I had to add ,34 to the end of each to get it to work. Not sure what it does but it was on some of the default transponder settings that were already in the file. So I now have:

12483,H,22500,34
12456,H,22500,34

Also in LNB setup in TV server I had to tick "Override default LNB frequencies" and set the LNB low and LNB high to 10750 to suit my LNB.

Is anyone using the latest SVN build for TVEngine3 i.e. 18207 and is it working for you? Thought I would try this today after using 17930 successfully for some time. However, the streaming server appears to be broken for me and I wondered if anyone else has notice this? There are one or two comments about this in the TVEngine3 thread but no conclusion.

So, does anyone have a working installation following the change to the NSIS installer last Friday?

Edit:

Well not sure what the reason was - but after installing the latest updates for Windows XP and then installing SVN 18215 it all came right and I now have the TV Clients working again!

Cheers Mike

i had a similar problem mruane anything higher than 17930 i get problems i thought it might be the up dates but i never tried it, i am currently running 17930 with no problems

has anyone got dvb-t working, i have all the channels working but i cant switch between them, when i switch between 2 dvb-t channels it crashes, so i have it set up that tv3 is my only dvb-t channel and all the rest are dvbs. although this is limiting with multi channel tuning in tv server.
