Yeah I think I know what the problem is. I think this will require a patch! Priority is not observed when grabbing EPG. What is happening here is that it is using the DVB-T card to grab that EPG, which is successful , problem is that it only contains Now&Next.

So we need an option to completely disable EPG grabbing on a specific card or maybe disable EPG grabbing for a specific tuning detail tuning detail. I'll have a think about it and see if I can't write and submit a patch.

im doing the same thing, @ first i would only get now and next but then aftar abit the full epg went in (when it had grabed it from dvbs). some times it requires tuning to a dvb-s channel preferably on the same transponder.

edit:

PS Your not combining TV3 DVBT with Freeview TV3 DVB-S and letting the card priority take care of things are you?
yes i have combined dvb-t and dvb-s tv3 and other channels, i now have full epg when watching dvb-t

I am still having the problem of recorded tv not going into the recorded tv option under my tv.

Also under DVB-T i when watching live tv about every 10 seconds i get a slight stutter and occasional pixelation. Just trying to narrow down the cause.
1) Codec (using the free one that came with Cyberlink Powercinema)( PCM45 )
2) Signal level ( have used it under bad signal and it much worse constant break up and lots of freezing) ( also tried it with full signal and full quality still has the problem)
3) video renderer (VMR9 currently) (tried EVR but tv3 is jittery under it and more problems)
4) Hardware (3.2GHZ core 2 duo 7600GT 2GB RAM) (CPU very rarely goes over 20% when watching or recording under either video renderer)
5) Media Portal (cant try any other programs as i haven't got any that work with DVB-T atm)

Thanks Mcraenz

Yes I think that you have it in one. The CARD table in the database has a column called GRABEPG which is set to TRUE by default. There does not appear to be any user interface element to set that column to false. I will manually set it to FALSE for the DVB-T card and see what happens. However, I suspect that the column is being ignored.

Let me know if you want a tester.

@Handya, I had a feeling that combining the DVB-T and Freeview DVB-S would fix the problem but that means that you will take your TV3 feed from the DVB-T card by default and fall back to DVB-S if that card is busy. Its not a bad solution but I would prefer to select DVB-T only when I want to record something in HD. For normal purposes I prefer DVB-S and the associated MPEG2 stream because of the smaller recordings.

Cheers Mike

@mruane i see you tryed to get tv3 from sky? for epg, it may also be possible go add a new channel and copy the settings from tv3? so then you would have 2 tv3 channels

@handya - that's an interesting suggestion - one I had not thought of. Thanks. I will give that a try.

Edit: I tried your suggestion Handya and yes it does seem to work. I created a TV3 EPG channel mapped to both of the DVB-S cards and as EPG ONLY. Then I manually created a new TV3 DVB-T channel and combined it with the TV3 EPG channel and I now seem to have full EPG for TV3 which I can select independently from the DVB-S TV3 channel. Many thanks for the suggestion. This will work nicely until Mcraenz can think about a patch to TVEngine (which is certainly the easier option to implement).

@mcraenz - I set the GRABEPG column in the CARD table to False but TVServer is still grabbing EPG from the DVB-T card. So it does look like the value in that column is being ignored.

Cheers Mike

Yea just checked the code it's not used. Good spotting though; the fact that the db column is there already will make patch creation a patch a piece of cake .

Perfect Mcraenz, I thought I had a solution following handya's suggestion and whilst it looked like it worked, it does not appear to have after all. Not sure why though only that perhaps the refresh of TV3 DVB-T EPG seems to get rid of the more useful DVB-S EPG.

So I will look forward to your patch. I will upgrade to the latest SVN tomorrow. Currently I am on 18279, which appears stable for me.

Cheers Mike
